Feedback is Sought About ARC about the Community Plan 2022-2032 -by 4th November
With the election of a new council, the community is encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to revisit its community plan. Is Council on track to deliver the vision of the ‘Advancing Our Region’ Community Plan?
Background information:
The Community Plan was developed and endorsed by Council after extensive consultation in 2021/2022.
The Community Plan represents the community’s aspirations for our region and sets the tone for Council’s ‘Delivery Program’ and ‘Operational Plan’.
Community encouraged to revisit Armidale Region’s Community Plan:
Three years in and ahead of a new council, it is timely for the community to check in with the plan – including what has been achieved so far.
Armidale Region’s new Council will be inducted in early October. They will be invited to participate in community consultation, including 'pop-up stalls' around the region during October. This is an opportunity for new councillors to meet with people and gather community thoughts that will be collated alongside ‘Your Say’ feedback.
Proposed dates for 'pop-up stall' community consultation opportunities:
4pm-6pm, Thursday 10 October - Ebor (across from Ebor Falls Hotel Motel)
5.30pm-7pm, Wednesday 16 October - Hillgrove Public Hall
12.30pm-3pm, Thursday 24 October - Armidale Central Shopping Centre
9am-1pm, Sunday 27 October - Armidale PCYC Markets
12.30pm-3pm, Tuesday 29 October - Guyra Main Street
4pm-6pm, Tuesday 29 October - Ben Lomond Hall
The Community Plan will then be placed on Public Exhibition in December. Council endorsement of the revised plan is expected to be sought in February 2025.
Informed by the endorsed Community Plan, the next ‘Delivery Program’ and ‘Operational Plan & Budget’ will then be prepared for Council, seeking endorsement for Public Exhibition.
Submissions are invited and must be addressed to the General Manager, Armidale Regional Council, PO Box 75A, Armidale, NSW 2350, or sent by email to [email protected] and marked 'Advancing Our Region Community Plan'.
Submissions must be received by Monday 4 November 2024.
Please be aware that if you make a submission, other people may have access to your comments. This may be as a result of a report to a Council meeting or as part of an application under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009. Also, under State legislation, any person making a submission on a Draft LEP amendment must also disclose whether they or an ‘associate’ have made a ‘reportable political donation’ or gift to a local Councillor or Council employee within the period commencing two years before any submission is made and ending when the Draft LEP is determined. Further details including disclosure forms are available on request from Council.

Transport Investments in Sydney vs Regional NSW by the NSW government?
Obviously Sydney is being flooded with transport options while regional NSW is starving for descent public transport. In addition to the already existing standard rail network, regular buses and ferries, NSW government is building a metro line network plus light rails in Parramatta. For example, govt is building an underground metro line and stations at a cost of 27 Billion(25kms)from Parramatta to Sydney. This is when residents in Parramatta already have a regular rail line, multiple bus services including to the city, ferry service, and a motorway. What is the economic justification for such vast investments in Sydney when residents in regional NSW are starving for descent public transport? Where is transport justice for regional residents? It seems the NSW government policy is one of "all rivers flow to Sydney" type?

Government needs to refocus on regional NSW for housing, transport, health, education and more as the cost of housing and living is sky roicketing especially in confgested metropolitan areas. But the planning and major invetments seem to be city-centric!
