The next time you're at the library, take a moment to view our display in memory of Rev Prof Jione Havea.
Jione was an active associate teacher at Pilgrim Theological College where he taught units in Hebrew Bible and Biblical Interpretation, advised and supported Indigenous Studies, and supervised higher degree by research students. His life and work has a profound impact on the College, broader University and church, and across postcolonial scholarship. We are so grateful to Jione for all the wonderful ways in which he has shaped, challenged, and encouraged us.
A prolific writer, this selection represents just some of Jione’s works currently available at the Dalton McCaughey Library. They explore postcolonial interpretation, climate change, doing theology under oppression, power and crisis, on bodies, and resistance. They show Jione’s commitment to doing theology justly and doing justice theologically: amplifying voices on the margins and championing the interests, perspectives and unique insights of Pasifika cultures on the biblical text.
