SO proud to finally receive a printed copy of .neves LEGO® alphabet book A2Z: Learning Through Lego® and Letterforms. I posted about this a few weeks ago, and I’m so pleased to show the beautifully printed finished product. It contains ten copies of my submitted letter (capital O) as well as magnificent chromatic letterpress prints of all the characters contributed by designers globally. It’s accompanied by a lovely case-study document containing bios of all the contributors and extraordinarily detailed information about the project’s genesis, philosophy and printing processes. The whole thing is presented in a silver-ink adorned presentation box. It is beautiful in every respect, and has clearly been crafted from start to finish with detail and passion. Big congratulations to Pedro’s team (but I bet they are glad it’s over)!
I introduced my own students to letterpress printing with LEGO™ (am I the first to call it ‘Legopress’?) this past semester. They used a Columbian hand press, which is an accessible entry point into the world of letterpress for students. This past week, when Pedro’s prints and book arrived in the mail, I was able to show it to the students to demonstrate what can be achieved with analog processes. So it was really nice to contextualise it for them, and bring the process full-circle.
What am I going to do with all these gorgeous prints?
