A team of researchers at UWA are seeking local residents (aged 18+, residing in Atwell, Aubin Grove, Banjup, Beeliar, Bibra Lake, Cockburn Central, Coogee, Coolbellup, Hamilton Hill, Hammond Park, Henderson, Jandakot, Lake Coogee, Leeming, Munster, North Coogee, North Lake, South Lake, Spearwood, Success, Treeby, Wattleup, or Yangebup) to tell us about your coast through photography for a research study.

We invite you to submit a photo of an important place along the Cockburn coast, and tell us what is important to you about this place. Your photos and words will help inform the development of imaginative designs by UWA students studying landscape architecture!

A team of researchers at UWA are seeking local residents (aged 18+, residing in Atwell, Aubin Grove, Banjup, Beeliar, Bibra Lake, Cockburn Central, Coogee, Coolbellup, Hamilton Hill, Hammond Park, Henderson, Jandakot, Lake Coogee, Leeming, Munster, North Coogee, North Lake, South Lake, Spearwood, Success, Treeby, Wattleup, or Yangebup) to tell us about your coast through photography, paper collage, or textile creation for a research study.

Workshops of 2 or 3 hours will be running at local venues. No previous experience is required, with friendly professional guidance provided by photographer Janine Sheen or artist Annick Akanni. Art materials and light refreshments will be provided. There are no costs for the workshops. Registration is essential.

2:30-4:30pm, 14 or 21 July | Storytelling through PHOTOGRAPHY

We are excited to share that UWA School of Agriculture and Environment researchers, Jason Beringer and Caitlin Moore have published the most downloaded paper in the first 12 months of publication in the 2023 Global Change Biology Journal!

Jason, Caitlin and the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the OzFlux network. The TERN community discussed lessons from 20 years of studying how global change affects ecosystems across topics of and variability, disturbance and resilience, drought and heat stress and synergies with remote sensing and modelling.

Our ENVT4401 students recently went on a field trip to Lake Gnangara. They delved into the intricate processes shaping metropolitan wetlands, focusing on water infiltration and ground water quality. They got to explore first-hand the intricate processes responsible for water infiltration into soils and down to the aquifer, uncovering the vital role of soil properties in water storage and quality.
