Duchesne College Alumnae

Duchesne College Alumnae From bursaries to high teas this page will keep you up to date on all the activities for Duch old girls. E: [email protected]

Duchesne College was founded in 1937 and since then has had thousands of young women head through the ranks. But just because you've left the College, doesn't mean that the memories and friends you've made have to fade away! The Alumnae Association is committed to bringing together old friends and helping you make new ones. In the past, we've held High Teas, trivia nights, Valedict drinks, countle

ss dinners and contributed to bursaries that go to current students. We've done fantastic work so far and we want to continue that! By liking this page, it will keep you in the loop as we expand our activities in 2015 and help you to network with the rest of the Duchesne Old Girls.

On the occasion of Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne’s Bicentenary in 2018, Duchesne College wishes to install a commemorative leadlight window in its Chapel. Duchesne College would like to invite artists that have a connection with, or are in sympathy with the goals of rscJ and Duchesne, to submit their design for this leadlight window. A panel of judges will choose the most appropriate design and the artist will be awarded $1000 for their design.

If you are interested in submitting a design for the leadlight window, please contact Clare Goodwin, Deputy Head of College, to request an information pack ([email protected]).

Did you know that 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer by their 85th birthday? - Thus it's likely you have a friend or family member who has been diagnosed with cancer.

The good news is, with the increase in prevalence, there has also been an increase in treatments, leading to higher survival rates. However, the outcomes of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatments extend far beyond the disease itself to various cancer and cancer-related side effects.

A study at the University of Queensland is looking at the influence of Peer support for the maintenance of exercise in cancer survivors.

Today marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Being part of the Duchesne community means that we are lucky enough to be surrounded by incredible women. However, one in eight Australian women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer before the age of 85. Unfortunately this means, at some point, someone you know will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Luckily breast cancer has very high survival rates, though this is attributed to early detection. This month we urge Duchesne alumnae to check your breasts and make sure you don't become another statistic.
