The oral exam might seem very challenging at first, but with strong preparation it can turn into your opportunity to show your progress and skills! 🇫🇷

The VCE French oral exam includes:
✅ General Conversation – 7 minutes
✅ Detailed Study – 8 minutes

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀:

- Prepare for 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and practise answering aloud at home.

- 𝗕𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 – it’s a conversation, not a speech!

🇫🇷 Le 14 juillet - La fête nationale en France

Tu sais pourquoi le 14 juillet est si important en France ?
C’est la fête nationale, qui célèbre la prise de la Bastille en 1789; un symbole fort de la Révolution française et de la liberté !

Comment les Français célèbrent le 14 juillet ?

Chaque année, les Français célèbrent le 14 juillet avec beaucoup d’enthousiasme !
👉 Le matin, il y a un grand défilé militaire sur les Champs-Élysées à Paris, en présence du président.
👉 Le soir, dans presque toutes les villes, on peut assister à un feu d’artifice spectaculaire.
👉 Il y a aussi des bals populaires, souvent organisés par les pompiers. Le bal des pompiers est très connu !

Les gens sortent, écoutent de la musique, dansent et profitent de l’ambiance festive.
Les bâtiments sont décorés avec des drapeaux tricolores, symbole de la République.

🎓 Vocabulaire & expressions utiles pour le VCE :

une révolution = a revolution

la prise de la Bastille = storming of the Bastille

un feu d’artifice = fireworks

🦆❄️ Expression du jour : "Il fait un froid de canard" / It's freezing

📚 VCE French - Useful idiom

🔹 Signification : Il fait très froid.
🔹 Traduction littérale : "It’s a duck’s cold"
🔹 Origine : L’expression vient de la chasse aux canards, qui se fait en hiver quand il fait très froid. Les chasseurs devaient rester immobiles dans le froid d’où l’expression ! The expression comes from duck hunting, which takes place in winter when it’s very cold. Hunters had to stay still in the freezing cold, that’s where the expression comes from!

✨ Exemple :
« Je suis sorti ce matin, il faisait un froid de canard ! »
