🕯️ The Australian firefighting community mourns once again.
We have received the tragic news of a Line of Duty Death (LODD) involving a NSW Parks & Wildlife Service firefighter.
Our fire season is still in its early stages, with many more weeks of summer ahead. We’ve been warned that this year will be significant — heavy fuel loads, minimal rainfall, and conditions that can change in moments.
But no level of preparation, experience, or training softens the impact of losing one of our own.
The hardest part is that this season has already been so busy that many crews haven’t had the time or space to process, reflect, or reset. Firefighters are moving from incident to incident, doing what they’ve sworn to do — protect life, property, and community — even when the weight is heavy.
This is why it’s so important to take time when you can:
To rest.
To talk.
To lean on those who listen and those who can guide.
No firefighter should ever feel they have to carry the emotional burden alone.
To the family, friends, and crew of the fallen firefighter:
Please know that a large and united community from every corner of Australia — and beyond — is standing with you in your grief. We honour your loved one’s service, courage, and sacrifice.
