To celebrate International Compost Awareness Week, on Saturday SOILCO opened the gates to our Kembla Grange Compost Manufacturing Facility. Following the success of last year’s tours, we welcomed residents from the City of Wollongong for a behind-the-scenes look at how we make compost.

From food scraps to finished product, visitors were taken through each stage of the process - seeing firsthand how organics are transformed into nutrient-rich compost. Attendees were also gifted a bag of compost for use in their home gardens.

It was a great way to bring this year’s theme to life: Better Soil, Better Life, Better Future. Because our impact doesn’t stop at the kerb. Our actions come full circle, regenerating our soils, our gardens, and our communities.

We Give Life to Soil - One Winning Pumpkin at a Time 🎃

The Tumut Show has wrapped up, and horticultural scientist and giant pumpkin grower Mark Peacock has done it again - taking out first place with a 133.5kg pumpkin!

Backing up his 2025 win with another in 2026, Mark’s scale-tipping vegetable was supported once again by our Tomato & Veg Mix. Mark says our product’s consistency and performance have helped him grow pumpkins of truly giant proportions.

Please join us in congratulating Mark on his well-deserved win. We love it when our products get put to the ultimate test!

We Give Life to Soil - One Pumpkin at a Time 🎃

Late last year, The SOILCO Group donated two pallets of Tomato & Veg Mix to Tumut grower and horticultural scientist Mark Peacock, supporting his 2026 Tumut Show Giant Pumpkin campaign.

After taking top honours in 2025, Mark is back again - with our Tomato & Veg Mix forming the foundation of his growing program.

A cold start, late frosts, relentless wind and multiple 40°C+ days have made this a challenging season, but the pumpkin is weighing more than 129kg.

With just a couple of weeks to go, we’ll be cheering Mark on ahead of the Tumut Show held on March 7 – 8 2026. Thanks for putting SOILCO products to the ultimate test 🌱

About the role:
We're on the lookout for a casual Yard/Hand/Plant & Equipment operator to join our team in Nowra. If you thrive working outdoors, have a solid work ethic and have a ticket to operate a front-end loader or excavator, or are eager to learn how to operate have machinery this is a great opportunity.

What you'll do:
- Support general yard maintenance and compost production
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Report hazards
- Operate equipment & machinery

You'll need:
• A valid drivers licence is essential
• Ability to work in a unique environment processing green/organic waste
• A positive and reliable team member
• Experience in outdoor labouring or yard hand work is a plus
• Experience operating a loader or excavator (desirable)
