TEXTILE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OF ADUST TEXTILE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OF ADUST Introduction
-----------------

Garments and Textile are considered as the thrust sectors in Bangladesh. Sc. B. Mr. Md. Ms.

By exporting quality goods, Bangladesh has already been turned into a major supplier. Considering the competitive, open, International market around the world, Bangladesh has paid a great deal of emphasis upon this sector. Alongside the government, quality endeavours from different private levels have been contributing to step our country further. Extensive growth in textile industry has created a

lot of job opportunities for skilled manpower. And to fill up the demand of skilled manpower with quality products, Atish Dipankar University Of Science and Technology (ADUST) has launched the Department of Textile Engineering (TE). TE combines the principles of engineering with specific knowledge of textile equipment and processes. This subject deals with the application of scientific and engineering principles to the design and control of all aspects of fiber, textile, and apparel processes, products, and machinery. It encompasses different areas of engineering such as mechanical, electrical, computer, chemical, instrumentation, electronic and structural engineering. Textile Engineering is less creative and more strictly a scientific career. It probes deeply into the chemical structure and properties of fabrics and the fibers from which they are made. A textile engineer works with textile materials: fibers, yarns, fabrics, and finishes. Most textile engineers work on product research and development, either improving current textile based products or creating new products. They may also be involved with finding uses for new fibers, yarns, fabrics, or textile finishes. The TE curriculum of ADUST includes other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, chemical, materials and industrial engineering, as well as fundamental courses such as thermodynamics, materials science, industrial management, applied mechanics, and engineering drawing and design. Emphasis is also given on textile chemical technology, fiber science technology, technical textile and computer application in textile. In Bangladesh, there are two major textile sectors- handloom sector (the unorganized one) and the mechanized sector (organized sector). These both have full growth potential. There are thousands of textiles mills all over the country. Textile Engineering graduates find excellent job opportunities in diverse industrial sectors. After successful completion of degree, a graduate can join as a technical services assistant in a textile plant, sales engineer, quality control trainee in a manufacturing unit/facility, assistant designer in a design studio or in a CAD design lab, stylist (fashion designer) in a showroom or a design studio/CAD lab, product development executive in a showroom/studio or lab, fabric development executive in a plant or lab or showroom. The Career paths also include process engineering, production control, technical sales, research and development, and corporate management through the production supervisory route. Instead of joining textile farms and manufacturing units after completion degree, one can also join M. Tech course or can go for doctorate degrees. For doing research work in Also there are enormous good opportunities abroad for carrying out research work. Program Goal:
Department of Textile Engineering

Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering
--------------------------------------------------------
The department of Textile Engineering offers 4 years B. in Textile Engineering. ADUST has responded to the continued trend in Textile and Clothing (T&C) Sector of Bangladesh through offering comprehensive studies in Textile Engineering. In addition to obtaining excellent knowledge in the arena of Textile Engineering, students enrich comprehensive knowledge on present Textile issues namely- environmental aspects in T&C fields and Quality Control Management. The Textile Industry has advanced rapidly in terms of the technology involved, materials produced and applications. Therefore, the syllabus for the program incorporated courses relevant to modern Textile Industry. The graduates with B.Sc. degree will be able to implement different processes of Clothing Manufacturing (Lean Production) and Textile Manufacturing (Fiber Manufacturing, Spinning, Fabric Manufacturing, Wet Processing), Production Planning & Control. Knowledge on T&C Management will help graduates perform better than Textile Graduates of other Universities. The carrier opportunities exist not only within T&C industry and sector, but also within related arena like sales and marketing of T&C machinery, marketing of dyes and chemical, accessories of Clothing. Local and foreign Buying Houses are absorbing comparatively higher numbers of Textile Engineering graduates. Eligibility for Admission:
