On 13 August 2026 at 11:00 AM, the 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 & 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗚𝗨𝗥𝗣𝗖) successfully hosted an insightful online session via Zoom titled "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲: 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵", in collaboration with the 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆.
The session was designed to transition students from basic information seekers into confident, critical, and evidence-based researchers by mastering university library resources and modern research workflows.
🌟 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻:
• 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝗸𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗻𝘆, Assistant Director, CRITS, shared valuable perspectives on utilizing both physical and digital resources available through the GUB Library.
• 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 & 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: 𝗠𝗱. 𝗔𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗻 (Deputy Librarian) delivered a comprehensive walkthrough on navigating physical shelf indexes, utilizing the digital library, and accessing premium subscribed databases (such as IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, and Scopus) remotely via Microsoft institutional accounts.
• 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀: Participants learned how to move past general search engines to structured database discovery using keywords, filters, and Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) to refine their literature searches.
• 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 & 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: 𝗠𝗱. 𝗔𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗻 and 𝗡𝗮𝘄𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮 (Library Officer) provided practical guidance on using Mendeley for organizing research papers, managing PDFs, and automatically generating accurate citations in APA style.
• 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻: Clarified the crucial distinction between similarity and plagiarism, detailing how to interpret Turnitin similarity reports responsibly and uphold strict research integrity.
• 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘀: Covered essential metrics like CiteScore, SJR, and SNIP, equipping students with the tools to evaluate journals critically and avoid predatory publishing.
• 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆: Highlighted the importance of setting up an ORCID iD to build a permanent, professional scholarly identity and track future publications seamlessly.
