Celebrating the World Health Day 2026
Eastern University Public Health Club (EUPHC) organized a program titled “Celebrating World Health Day 2026” on 12 April 2026 at Eastern University, Dhaka, with the aim of promoting public health awareness and encouraging healthy lifestyle practices among students.
The program featured a Health Seminar at Rezakul Haider Hall and a Free Health Check-up Campaign at the EU Sports Room. The event was coordinated by the club coordinator and witnessed active participation from students and faculty members.
The seminar commenced with a recitation from holy books, followed by guest hospitality and a welcome speech by the President of EUPHC. Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the School of Engineering and Advisor of the club, delivered an insightful speech on public health awareness. The session also included a Public Health Quiz Battle 2026 and a short cultural segment based on health awareness.
Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar of Eastern University, addressed the audience, highlighting the role of institutions in promoting health consciousness. The program also featured speeches from invited guests and concluded with a keynote speech by Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Honorable Vice Chancellor (Acting), who emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining both individual and community health.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Head of the Department of Pharmacy and Advisor of EUPHC. The seminar concluded with an award-giving ceremony and distribution of snacks.
In parallel, a Free Health Check-up Campaign was conducted at the EU Sports Room from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, providing participants with access to basic healthcare services at no cost. The health camp was supported by East West Medical College Hospital as the official health partner. A professional medical team—including medical officers, intern doctors, staff nurses, PG doctors, dental technologists, and other healthcare personnel—was present to ensure efficient and quality service delivery.
The program aimed not only to disseminate knowledge but also to provide practical healthcare support, thereby bridging awareness with action. The initiative successfully engaged a large number of participants and created a meaningful impact by promoting health consciousness within the university community.
Overall, the celebration of World Health Day 2026 at Eastern University was successfully conducted and served as an effective platform for health education, community engagement, and the promotion of preventive healthcare practices. The event reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more aware society.
