Ar. Khondker is a Dhaka-based practicing architect and Principal Architect of Nakshabid Architects. A graduate of BUET (1996), his work is widely recognized for its strong engagement with context, climate, and community. His architecture emphasizes environmental responsiveness, cultural continuity, and human dignity, contributing significantly to contemporary discourse on contextual and socially grounded architectural practice in Bangladesh.

Ar. Ahmed is a leading voice in contemporary Bangladeshi architecture whose work operates at the intersection of architecture, art, exhibition design, and critical practice. As the founder of Atelier Robin Architects and a key figure Bengal Institute, he has played a pivotal role in shaping architectural exhibitions, cultural institutions, and spatial narratives in Bangladesh. His work consistently interrogates context, memory, and the boundaries of architectural authorship.

We are proud to announce that the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) has officially inducted the Department of Architecture (DoA), DUET, awarding the IAB Accreditation Certificate in the New Member Induction Ceremony held on 12 December, 2025.

This event was a part of the ongoing ArchSummit Bangladesh 2025 organized by IAB at the Bangladesh–China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC), Agargaon, Dhaka. The certificate was received on behalf of DoA, DUET by our Department Head, Prof. Dr. Bayezid Ismail Choudhury.

In the same program, IAB also inducted Prof. Dr. Bayezid Ismail Choudhury as a Fellow Member of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (FIAB), recognizing his professional distinction and contribution to the discipline. This moment honors the DoA, DUET as both institutional accreditation and individual professional recognition at the national level.

This Thursday, we had the opportunity to welcome Architect Khandokar Mahfuz Alam as our esteemed guest and keynote speaker at the lecture series of Thursday Forum. He delivered an engaging and insightful lecture on Conservation Architecture, exploring its fundamental principles, methodologies, emerging technologies and implementations. The session also shed light on several significant conservation projects undertaken across Bangladesh, particularly those implemented by the Department of Archaeology. Architect Alam's presentation offered our students a rare opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the practical and theoretical dimensions of conservation work in our local context.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Architect Khandokar Mahfuz Alam for generously sharing his time and expertise. His thought-provoking lecture was both educational and inspiring, leaving a lasting impression on all the attendees and significantly enriching the academic discourse on Conservation Architecture.

We’re thrilled to share the journey of our troops “ArchiVerse DUET” and “Archi Squad DUET” in “ArchJAM 2025,” organised by the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) at Rover Scout Training Centre, Bahadurpur, Gazipur, from May 22 to 25, 2025.

“ArchiVerse DUET” (team of 4th year 2nd semester students), mentored by Humayra Anan, took home the following awards
1. 1st runner-up in “Building a Tree House” competition
2. 2nd runner-up in “3D Composition with Found Materials.”
3. 1st runner-up in “Photography Competition- Day 3” secured by Ferdous Hasan (ID 206004).

ArchJAM 2025 was a national event for architecture students, featuring knowledge sharing, hands-on workshops, physical activities, and networking. Activities included design competitions, mud-bamboo workshops, treehouse building, obstacle courses, creative thinking, photography, architecture quizzes, treasure hunts, community visits, survey, and tree planting. Two teams of eight students (total 16 students) from DUET, Gazipur, guided by Humayra Anan and Md. Galib Nur Anan, (Lecturer, Department of Architecture, DUET) participated in this event. Their triumphant performance exemplified the high quality of education that DUET has been providing to its students.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to our head of the department, Professor Dr. Bayezid Ismail Choudhury, for his constant support and guidance. Special thanks to our Honourable Vice Chancellor for granting us permission to participate and ensuring additional support.

Congratulations to all the participants and we hope that they continue to engage in their studies with the same spirit and enthusiasm.
