The Department of English at Eastern University, in collaboration with the Eastern University English Club (EUEC) and the Office of Student Affairs and Placement (OSAP), organized a professional skills development session titled “From Campus to Career” on 11 April 2026 at Rezakul Haidar Hall, Eastern University.
The session aimed to empower students of the Department of English with essential knowledge and skills required for success in the professional field. The guest speaker was Md. Asaduzzaman, Deputy Manager – Administration at ACI PLC, who delivered an insightful discussion on contemporary skills, artificial intelligence, emotional intelligence, and multiple intelligences. At the end of the session, Dr. Shafia Akter, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Md. Rofiussan, Head of the Department of English, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guest speaker for sharing his valuable knowledge and experience. They emphasized that his insights would greatly benefit students in preparing for the professional world. In addition, they appreciated the Eastern University English Club for the smooth arrangement of the program.

Teachers’ Talk: Early English Exposure and Oral Language Development

The Department of English, Eastern University organised a session of its regular lecture series Teachers’ Talk, titled “Early English Exposure and Oral Language Development,” delivered by Ms. Kazi Tahmina, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Eastern University, on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. The talk was grounded in rigorous research that offered critical insights into child language acquisition. It also highlighted key theoretical perspectives and empirical findings related to the impact of early English exposure on oral language development.

The Department of English, Eastern University, is pleased to announce upcoming Teacher’s Talk titled “Early English Exposure and Oral Language Development” to be conducted by Ms. Kazi Tahmina on 7 April 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, in Room 521, Department of English, Eastern University.

Kazi Tahmina is a dynamic and passionate educator with over 16 years of experience in higher education. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Eastern University. Tahmina has served in various academic roles, including part-time faculty at the University of Dhaka and substitute teacher at Viqarunnisa Noon School.

Her academic journey began at the University of Dhaka, where she graduated being at the top of her class in English Literature. As a U.S. State Department Scholar, she further broadened her expertise through the South Asian Undergraduate Student Leadership Program in the United States. She has completed her second Master’s degree in Early Childhood Development at BRAC University. Her research interests include language learning and technology, social media in education, language use in literature classes, and early childhood language development. She has presented her research at the NELTA International Conference and is currently working on several academic papers.

An accomplished writer and organizer, she coordinates the Eastern University Writers’ Forum and previously led the Eastern University Debating Club. She is a member of the Bangladesh English Language Teachers’ Association (BELTA). She has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the US State Department Scholarship, a Gold Medal in the national-level Essay Writing competition, and the ‘Best Speaker’ award in the National Television Debate competition, and the Dhaka University Dean’s Award. She is the author of 13 books, most of which are for children. She actively mentors students in creative writing, debating, theatrical performance, and recitation.

Beyond academia, Tahmina is actively involved in social work. She is the founder of “পরার্থে,” a voluntary organization supporting underprivileged communities, and has led several humanitarian initiatives, including food distribution during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is to inform you that the Department has rescheduled the professional skill development session titled “From Campus to Career” from 4 April 2026 to 11 April 2026 due to the rescheduling of the mid-term examination.

This decision has been taken in the greater interest of the students of the Department of English. As previously communicated, the mid-term examination, which was expected to be completed during the month of Ramadan, has been deferred due to unforeseen circumstances.

The Department of English at Eastern University, in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs and Placement (OSAP) and the Eastern University English Club (EUEC), is organizing a professional skills development session titled “From Campus to Career.” The session will be held on 11 April 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Rezakul Haidar Hall, Eastern University. The session aims to empower students of the Department of English with essential knowledge and skills required for success in the professional field.

The guest speaker, Md. Asaduzzaman, has over 14 years of professional experience in administration, people operations, and organizational support across leading multinational and local organizations in Bangladesh. He currently serves as Deputy Manager – Administration at ACI PLC, where he has received multiple promotions for his strong performance and contributions. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Field Services Engineer at Ericsson Bangladesh Ltd., gaining valuable experience in operations, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

He holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Soil, Water and Environment from University of Dhaka, and an MBA in Finance from Stamford University Bangladesh. In addition to his corporate career, he is the author of the book Increase the Level of Living with Happiness, which focuses on personal development, professional effectiveness, mindset transformation, and work–life balance. He has also conducted professional development sessions for various audiences, including alumni of The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh.
