Barrie's Lake - Protect Our Vanishing Wetlands and Wildlife Protecting Barrie's Lake ESPA 57, Gilholm Marsh ESPA 58 and Cruickston Creek Headwaters proposed ESPA, Cruickston Creek and Devil's Creek.

Protecting Barrie's Lake Environmentally Sensitive Policy Area 57, Provincially Significant Wetlands on a designated Environmentally Sensitive Landscape in North Dumfries, Region of Waterloo, Ontario, its associated wetlands and its wildlife. Barrie's Lake is threatened by plans to interfere with the natural drainage to Barrie's Lake and discharge Cambridge Subdivision Stormwater into these ecolog

ically fragile wetlands forever. Over 90% of the wetlands in southwestern Ontario are gone. These are among the highest wetland losses on Earth. According to the University of Guelph:
Amphibian Habitat is declining. In southern Ontario only one in ten ponds remain. Most important of all though, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to all species. We have become one of the most powerful species on this planet, capable of shaping the land and altering the very atmosphere. If we judge Human rulers on how they treat the poorest in our societies, should we not judge ourselves on how we treat other species -- not just the dramatic, beautiful or the useful ones -- but even those which are tiny or far removed from our daily lives?
