Le terme « oisif », dérivé de l’oisiveté, est d’abord associé à la paresse. Pourtant, dans la Grèce antique, celle-ci avait une toute autre définition : elle était associée au temps libre du citoyen. Selon Sénèque, l’oisiveté permettait avant tout de se reposer, méditer et surtout, s’informer.
