We’re proud to share that King’s first-ever submission to the Canadian Association of University Business Officers’ (CAUBO) Quality and Productivity Awards has received an Honourable Mention.

Led by Jakob Burke, Residence and Conference Services Coordinator, the submission highlights how Housing & Ancillary Services and Residence Life are using accessible digital tools and redesigned workflows to improve residence operations, student supports, summer accommodations and conference services—creating more efficient, consistent experiences for current and prospective students and the wider King’s community.

On June 2, King's faculty and staff, guests and representatives from community organizations including the PREP Academy, the Delmore "Buddy" Daye Learning Institute (DBDLI) and the Black Cultural Centre (BCC) gathered at the BCC to reflect on and recognize the milestones and ongoing commitment King’s has made in challenging anti-Black racism and advancing Black inclusion.
The event included a panel discussion with a call for continued action, a public signing of the new North Star Statement proposed by the PREP Academy, and an apology delivered by President Lahey on behalf of King’s to African Nova Scotian communities for the university’s connections to slavery and anti-Black racism.

Meet Vivi Brodin, the recipient of the Brian Sherwell Award!

Vivi recently completed the Foundation Year Program, following in the footsteps of her mother, Christina McKay, BA(Hons)’93, and her brother who enrolled in FYP in 2021.

“They say that you don’t really notice the difference or the importance of [FYP] until after,” says Vivi, “But I can already see that it’s going to affect my life for a very long time.”
