You've had a long day. Your body is ready for sleep - but your mind isn't.

Instead, it loops. Past conversations and interactions are on replay. Future worries take shape. Small concerns grow out of proportion.

This pattern of thinking is often called rumination - and is one of the most common barriers to sleep. It's a well-studied cognitive process involving repetitive, negatively focused thinking that is associated with heightened emotional arousal and difficulty disengaging from distressing thoughts.

The good news: there are evidence-based strategies that can help!
