🎨 Celebrating Excellence in Art!

We are proud to announce that KEAFOON BRANDON FONYUY, a Level 300 Geography student, has emerged victorious in the UB Cultural Festival 2024 Painting Competition, representing the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences Students Association with distinction.

Brandon's winning pieces masterfully capture the essence of African village life through vibrant colors and compelling imagery. His artworks showcase traditional architecture, cultural celebrations, and daily village activities against stunning sunset backgrounds, highlighted by swaying palm trees and warm earth tones.

The paintings brilliantly illustrate how traditional arts, crafts, music, and dance not only preserve our cultural heritage but also contribute to sustainable tourism and local economies. Through his artistic lens, Brandon demonstrates how these cultural elements create opportunities for community development while maintaining authentic traditions.

This achievement reflects both Brandon's exceptional talent and our department's commitment to nurturing well-rounded students who appreciate and promote our rich cultural heritage.

**University of Buea Geography Students Host Impactful World Environment Day Mini Conference**

The University of Buea Geography Students Association organized a thoughtful mini conference on June 5th, 2024 to commemorate the World Environment Day. The event, held on campus, focused on the theme "Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience".

The conference saw strong attendance from students, lecturer's of the department, and environmental organization representatives. Keynote speakers provided insightful perspectives on environmental action, while student-led activities like spoken word, drama, singing, and poetry showcased their talent and commitment to the cause.

Department leadership, including the Geography Head of Department and representatives "Light for Nature" mangrove restoration group, were also present to give their support. The event concluded with certificates awarded to dedicated students association executive members who served the association for the 2022/2023 academic year and a call from the HoD for personal environmental resolutions like tree planting.

This mini conference demonstrated the Geography Students Association's passion for environmental stewardship and their drive to inspire positive change within the community. It was an impactful World Environment Day celebration.

Attention UB students! Our Geography department has made it to the semi-finals of the prestigious Dean's Cup competition.

On May 25th at 3pm, the UBGEOSA team will be taking on the Department of Banking and Finance at the UB football field. This is sure to be an exciting match, so let's show our Geography students some massive support!

Come out to the field tomorrow and cheer on our UBGEOSA guys as they compete for a spot in the finals. Let's go Geography!"

Huge congratulations to the UBGEOSA team for their fantastic performance!
