Στις 3 Δεκεμβρίου 2025, μέλη του Τμήματος Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick πραγματοποίησαν συνάντηση με αντιπροσωπεία του Κυπριακού Οργανισμού Διαχείρισης Αποβλήτων (ΚΟΔΑ). Κατά τη διάρκεια της συνάντησης, εκπρόσωποι του Οργανισμού παρουσίασαν το έργο και τη λειτουργία του ΚΟΔΑ, ο οποίος αποτελεί μη κερδοσκοπικό, συλλογικό σύστημα διαχείρισης αποβλήτων που ιδρύθηκε το 2014.

Ιδιαίτερη αναφορά έγινε στην ψηφιακή πλατφόρμα «Αρχιμήδης», μέσω της οποίας πραγματοποιείται αυτόματος υπολογισμός ποσοτήτων αποβλήτων από εργολάβους και μελετητές. Η πλατφόρμα συμβάλλει στον αποτελεσματικό έλεγχο και την εκτίμηση των παραγόμενων ποσοτήτων, διασφαλίζοντας ότι τα απόβλητα οδηγούνται αποκλειστικά σε αδειοδοτημένες μονάδες διαχείρισης, όπως προβλέπεται από το Τμήμα Περιβάλλοντος.

Στο πλαίσιο της συνάντησης, συζητήθηκαν πιθανοί τρόποι μελλοντικής συνεργασίας, όπως η διοργάνωση σεμιναρίων για φοιτητές του Τμήματος και μέλη του Συνδέσμου, η ενεργή συμμετοχή του Τμήματος στην ανάπτυξη μεθοδολογιών επαναχρησιμοποίησης υλικών, καθώς και η ενδεχόμενη συμμετοχή του ΚΟΔΑ σε σχετικά ερευνητικά προγράμματα.

ΕΚΠΑΙΔΕΥΤΙΚΗ ΕΠΙΣΚΕΨΗ ΤΟΥ ΤΜΗΜΑΤΟΣ ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΩΝ ΜΗΧΑΝΙΚΩΝ ΣΤΟ ΠΑΛΑΙΟ ΜΕΤΑΛΛΕΙΟ ΑΜΙΑΝΤΟΥ ΣΤΟ ΤΡΟΟΔΟΣ
Το Τμήμα Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick διοργάνωσε εκπαιδευτική επίσκεψη στο παλαιό μεταλλείο του Αμιάντου στο Τρόοδος την Πέμπτη, 6 Νοεμβρίου. Το έργο που βρίσκεται υπό κατασκευή αυτή την περίοδο είναι ένας τετραγωνικός οχετός μήκους 600 μέτρων για τη συλλογή και διαχείριση των ομβρίων υδάτων που ρέουν στην περιοχή. Το συνολικό κόστος του έργου ανέρχεται περίπου στις 900.000 ευρώ και αναμένεται να ολοκληρωθεί τον Μάρτιο του 2026.
Οι φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες ενημερώθηκαν αναλυτικά για το έργο από τη Συντονίστρια του έργου, κ. Αναστασία Κυπριανού, εκ μέρους του Τμήματος Γεωλογικής Επισκόπησης (Αναθέτουσα Αρχή), η οποία μας υποδέχθηκε στον χώρο του μεταλλείου. Ακολούθησε επιτόπια περιήγηση, συνοδευόμενη από συζήτηση και ερωτήσεις των φοιτητών και φοιτητριών. Επιπλέον, ο εργολάβος κ. Χριστάκης Μούσουλος παρείχε πρόσθετες πληροφορίες σχετικά με κατασκευαστικές λεπτομέρειες, καθώς και για την εκτέλεση και πρόοδο των εργασιών. Πρόκειται για ένα σημαντικό έργο στον χώρο του μεταλλείου, καθώς θα επιτρέψει την αποτελεσματικότερη συλλογή και ορθότερη διαχείριση των ομβρίων υδάτων, γεγονός που θα συμβάλει και στην σταθεροποίηση των εξορυκτικών αποβλήτων, και εντάσσεται στο ευρύτερο πλαίσιο της περιβαλλοντικής αποκατάστασης της περιοχής, η οποία δεν αναμένεται να ολοκληρωθεί πριν το 2040.
Υπήρξε έντονο ενδιαφέρον από τους φοιτητές και τις φοιτήτριες του Τμήματος, τόσο για το έργο όσο και για την ιστορία του μεταλλείου γενικότερα. Η συμμετοχή στην επίσκεψη αποδείχθηκε ιδιαίτερα σημαντική εμπειρία, καθώς περιλάμβανε διάφορες ειδικότητες του κλάδου, όπως θέματα υδρολογίας και υδραυλικής, δομικά και κατασκευαστικά θέματα, υλικά, γεωτεχνικές εργασίες, περιβαλλοντική διαχείριση κ.ά.
Οι εκπαιδευτικές εκδρομές αποτελούν πολύ σημαντικό μέρος του προγράμματος σπουδών Πολιτικής Μηχανικής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick και οργανώνονται συχνά από το Τμήμα, με στόχο να προσφέρουν στους φοιτητές και τις φοιτήτριες άμεση οπτική επαφή με μεγάλα έργα, ώστε να μελετήσουν και να κατανοήσουν τη σύνθετη φύση και τη σημασία των έργων του κλάδου της Πολιτικής Μηχανικής στην πράξη.

EDUCATIONAL VISIT OF THE CIVIL ENGINEERING DΕPARTMENT TO THE FORMER ASBESTOS MINE AT TROODOS
The Department of Civil Engineering at Frederick University organized an educational visit to the former asbestos mine in Troodos on Thursday, 6th of November. The project currently under construction in the area is a 600m long square culvert for the collection and management of stormwater, flowing through the area. The total cost of the project is approximately €900,000 and it is expected to be completed in March 2026.
Civil Engineering students were presented with detailed information on the project by the Project Coordinator, Mrs. Anastasia Kyprianou, on behalf of the Geological Survey Department (Contracting Authority), who welcomed the group at the mine site. This was followed by a walking tour on-site, accompanied by discussion and student questions. In addition, the project contractor, Mr. Christakis Mousoulos, provided further information regarding construction details, as well as the ex*****on and progress of the works. This is a significant project at the mine site, as it will allow for more effective collection and better management of stormwater, contributing to the stabilization of mining waste. The project forms part of a broader environmental restoration program in the area, which is not expected to be completed before 2040.
There was strong interest from the Civil Engineering students, both regarding the project itself and the history of the mine in general. Participation in the visit proved to be a particularly valuable experience, as it encompassed various specializations in the field, including hydrology and hydraulics, structural and construction issues, materials, geotechnical works and environmental management.
Educational field trips form a very important part of the Civil Engineering curriculum at Frederick University and are frequently organized by the Department. Their purpose is to provide students with direct exposure to major infrastructure projects, enabling them to study and understand the complex nature and significance of civil engineering works in practice.

Το Συμβούλιο του Τμήματος Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick πραγματοποίησε συνάντηση με τον Σύλλογο Πολιτικών Μηχανικών Κύπρου (ΣΠΟΛΜΗΚ) τη Δευτέρα 13 Οκτωβρίου, κατά την οποία υπογράφηκε Μνημόνιο Συνεργασίας μεταξύ των δύο μερών. Το μνημόνιο αφορά συνεργασία σε διάφορους τομείς, όπως θέματα εκπαίδευσης των νέων μηχανικών, εκπαιδευτικές επισκέψεις, ενημερωτικές διαλέξεις, έρευνα κ.ά.
Κοινός στόχος του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick και του Συλλόγου Πολιτικών Μηχανικών είναι η σωστή εκπαίδευση, διαρκής επιμόρφωση και ενημέρωση των φοιτητών/τριών, που θα αποτελέσουν τη νέα γενιά πολιτικών μηχανικών, μέσα από διάφορες δράσεις, ώστε να είναι έτοιμοι/ες να ανταποκριθούν στο απαιτητικό επάγγελμα του πολιτικού μηχανικού. Σε πρώτη φάση, το Νοέμβριο, θα πραγματοποιηθεί ενημερωτική διάλεξη, ώστε να γνωρίσουν καλύτερα και οι φοιτητές/τριες τον Σύλλογο και να ενθαρρυνθούν να συμμετέχουν στο έργο του. Αργότερα θα ακολουθήσουν εκπαιδευτικές επισκέψεις σε έργα πολιτικής μηχανικής, όπως μεγάλες κατασκευές και έργα υποδομής.
Το Τμήμα Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick έχει ως στόχο τη συνεχή και εποικοδομητική συνεργασία με τον ΣΠΟΛΜΗΚ, ως τον κατεξοχήν εκπρόσωπο των πολιτικών μηχανικών στην Κύπρο, καθώς και με άλλους επαγγελματικούς οργανισμούς του κλάδου.

The Department of Civil Engineering at Frederick University held a meeting with the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers (CYACE) on Monday, October 13, during which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two parties. The memorandum concerns collaboration in various areas, such as the education of young engineers, educational visits, informative lectures, research, and more.
The common goal of Frederick University and the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers is the proper education, continuous training, and up-to-date information for students, who will form the new generation of civil engineers. Through various initiatives, these future professionals will be better prepared to meet the increased demands of the civil engineering profession. As a first step, in November, an informative lecture will be held so that students can become more familiar with the Association and be encouraged to participate in its work. Later, educational visits will follow to civil engineering projects, such as large-scale construction projects and infrastructure works.
The Department of Civil Engineering at Frederick University aims for continuous and constructive collaboration with CYACE, as the principal representative body of civil engineers in Cyprus, as well as with other professional organizations in the field.

Το Συμβούλιο του Tμήματος Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick πραγματοποίησε συνάντηση με τον Σύλλογο Πολιτικών Μηχανικών Κύπρου (ΣΠΟΛΜΗΚ) την Πέμπτη 12 Ιουνίου 2025. Ο ΣΠΟΛΜΗΚ ιδρύθηκε το 1992 και είναι ο κατεξοχήν επαγγελματικός σύνδεσμος που εκπροσωπεί τους πολιτικούς μηχανικούς στην Κύπρο αλλά και διεθνώς.

Στα πλαίσια της συνάντησης, συζητήθηκαν διάφορα σημαντικά θέματα που αφορούν στον κλάδο της πολιτικής μηχανικής όπως η εκπαίδευση και στήριξη των μηχανικών, ειδικότερα των νέων μηχανικών, θέματα ασφάλειας και υγείας, οι αμοιβές των μηχανικών αλλά και η ανάγκη που υπάρχει για εργοδότηση πολιτικών μηχανικών στην κατασκευαστική βιομηχανία και με ποιους τρόπους θα μπορούσε να επιτευχθεί αυτό. Επίσης, συζητήθηκε και η διοργάνωση ενημερωτικών και εκπαιδευτικών σεμιναρίων για τις φοιτήτριες και τους φοιτητές του πανεπιστημίου, καθώς και η ενθάρρυνση τους στη συμμετοχή στο έργο και τις δράσεις του συλλόγου. ως φοιτητικά μέλη στον ΣΠΟΛΜΗΚ αλλά και μετά την αποφοίτηση τους.

Γενικά, κοινή συνισταμένη και για τα δύο μέρη είναι η αναβάθμιση της εικόνας και του κύρους του επαγγέλματος του μηχανικού προς την κοινωνία γενικότερα ώστε να είναι αντιληπτός ευρύτερα και ο σημαντικός ρόλος του πολιτικού μηχανικού. Το Τμήμα Πολιτικών Μηχανικών στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick έχει ως στόχο την συνεχή συνεργασία με τον ΣΠΟΛΜΗΚ όπως και άλλα επαγγελματικά σώματα συναφή με τον κλάδο. Η συνάντηση ήταν πολύ χρήσιμη, διεξήχθηκε γόνιμη συζήτηση και αναμένεται να επαναληφθεί το Φθινόπωρο για περαιτέρω ενέργειες.

The council of the Civil Engineering Department at Frederick University has held a meeting with the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers (CYACE) on Thursday 12th of June 2025. The Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers was founded in 1992 and is the sole professional association representing civil engineers in Cyprus and internationally.

During the meeting, there was discussion on various important topics related to the civil engineering profession such as the education and support of engineers, especially young engineers, health and safety issues, salaries of engineers and also the current need for employment of civil engineers in the construction industry and ways to promote this. In addition, there was discussion for the organization of informative and educational seminars for the students and also to encourage them to participate in the activities of the association as student members, but also as full members after their graduation.

In general terms, the common aim for both parties is the elevation of the professional image and prestige of the civil engineer towards the society, so that it is widely understood how important is the role of a civil engineer. The Department of Civil Engineering at Frederick University aims to continue this cooperation with the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers, as well as other relevant professional bodies. The meeting held was very useful and included fruitful discussion. There will be another meeting to be held in autumn for further actions.

Το Τμήμα Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick διοργάνωσε εκπαιδευτική επίσκεψη στο Τσιμεντοποιείο Βασιλικού την Πέμπτη 8 Μαΐου. Το Τσιμεντοποιείο Βασιλικού είναι μία από τις μεγαλύτερες βαριές βιομηχανίες στην Κύπρο, λειτουργώντας αδιάκοπα από το 1967 ως ο μοναδικός προμηθευτής τσιμέντου για την κατασκευαστική βιομηχανία.

Τις φοιτήτριες και τους φοιτητές του Τμήματος, καλωσόρισε θερμά η κα. Αλεξάνδρα Αλεξάνδρου και αργότερα παρακολούθησαν δύο παρουσιάσεις. Η πρώτη με θέμα “Παραγωγική Διαδικασία Τσιμέντου” από τον κ. Βάσο Σάββα και η δεύτερη με θέμα “Διασφάλιση Ποιότητας στο Τσιμέντο, Παραγωγική διαδικασία και Τελικό Προϊόν” από την κα. Μαριάννα Κουρουζίδου. Ακολούθησε ενδιαφέρουσα συζήτηση και ερωτήσεις από τις φοιτήτριες και τους φοιτητές σχετικά με θέματα παραγωγής, περιβαλλοντικές ανησυχίες και πρακτικές, καθώς και παρακολούθηση ποιότητας και έλεγχος προϊόντος.

Μετά τις παρουσιάσεις, οι φοιτήτριες και οι φοιτητές του Τμήματος είχαν την ευκαιρία να επισκεφτούν το Κτήριο Κεντρικού Ελέγχου. Ξεναγήθηκαν στους χώρους της Αίθουσας Κεντρικού Ελέγχου, όπου πολλαπλές οθόνες παρουσιάζουν διάφορα μέρη του εργοστασίου, και στα Εργαστήρια όπου πραγματοποιείται η ετοιμασία, συλλογή και έλεγχος των δειγμάτων. Εκεί είχαν ξανά την ευκαιρία να ρωτήσουν επιπρόσθετες ερωτήσεις και να παρατηρήσουν από κοντά τις διαδικασίες ελέγχου και διασφάλισης ποιότητας.

Στην επίσκεψη στο Τσιμεντοποιείο Βασιλικού συμμετείχαν φοιτήτριες και φοιτητές από όλα τα έτη του πτυχίου Πολιτικής Μηχανικής και αυτό αποδείχτηκε ως μία χρήσιμη, μοναδική και αξιόλογη εμπειρία. Ήταν επίσης πολύ σημαντικό να εκτιμήσουν το τσιμέντο ως ένα κύριο κατασκευαστικό υλικό και να κατανοήσουν την εξειδικευμένη διαδικασία που απαιτείται για την παραγωγή του. Οι εκπαιδευτικές επισκέψεις είναι ένα πολύ σημαντικό μέρος του πτυχίου Πολιτικής Μηχανικής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick και διοργανώνονται συχνά για να βοηθήσουν τις φοιτήτριες και τους φοιτητές να αποκτήσουν εμπειρία σε πρακτικούς τομείς του κατασκευαστικού τομέα, επιπρόσθετα των ακαδημαϊκών γνώσεων και δεξιοτήτων.

The Department of Civil Engineering at Frederick University has organised an educational field trip to Vassiliko Cement Production Plant on Thursday 8th of May. The Vassiliko Plant is one of the largest heavy industries in Cyprus, operating non-stop since 1967 as the sole provider of cement for the construction industry.

The Department’s students were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Alexandra Alexandrou, and then attended two very informative presentations. The first one on “Cement Production Process” by Mr. Vassos Savva and the second on “Quality Assurance for Cement, Production Process and Final Product” by Mrs. Marianna Kourouzidou. These were followed by interesting discussion and questions from students regarding topics of production, environmental concerns and policies, as well as quality monitoring and product testing.

After the presentations, the students had the chance to visit the Central Control Building. They were guided to the Central Control Room with multiple monitors showing different parts of the factory and the Laboratories Area where samples are prepared, collected and tested. Students had the opportunity to ask additional questions and closely observe the processes involved.

Civil Engineering students from all years participated in the field trip to Vassiliko Cement Plant and this proved to be a useful, unique and significant experience. It was very important to appreciate cement as a major construction material and understand the specialised process required for its production. Field trips are an important component of the Civil Engineering degree at Frederick university and are often organised by the Department to help students gain an insight into various practical areas of the construction and engineering sector, in addition to their academic knowledge and skills.

Μέσα στα πλαίσια των εκπαιδευτικών του σεμιναρίων και διαλέξεων, το Τμήμα Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick προσκάλεσε τον διακεκριμένο πολιτικό μηχανικό Δρ. Κυριάκο Κύρου, γεωτεχνικό μηχανικό και τέως Διευθυντή του Τμήματος Αναπτύξεως Υδάτων, για την παρουσίαση με θέμα “Η επίδραση των διογκούμενων εδαφών στο δομημένο περιβάλλον” την Πέμπτη 3/4/2025.

Ο Δρ. Κύρου είναι ένας από τους πλέον καταξιωμένους γεωτεχνικούς μηχανικούς με πολυετή εμπειρία στον τομέα και έχει εργαστεί σε αρκετά έργα μεγάλης κλίμακας. Έχει δώσει πολλές διαλέξεις σε πανεπιστήμια και οργανισμούς για το θέμα και έχει δημοσιεύσει την έρευνα του σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά και διεθνή συνέδρια.

Η παρουσίαση ήταν ταυτόχρονα θεωρητικής και πρακτικής φύσεως με πολλές περιπτώσεις από έργα στην Κύπρο και στο εξωτερικό. Ο Δρ. Κύρου μετέδωσε επιτυχημένα τις γνώσεις του και το πάθος του για έρευνα στους φοιτητές που συμμετείχαν ενεργά και έδειξαν έντονο ενδιαφέρον για το θέμα. Έπειτα, ακολούθησαν ερωτήσεις από τους φοιτητές και αναπτύχθηκε συζήτηση.

Σε γενικές γραμμές, η παρουσίαση ήταν ιδιαίτερα ενημερωτική και συνέβαλε σε γόνιμο προβληματισμό και σκέψεις για περαιτέρω μελέτη. Το σεμινάριο παρακολούθησαν φοιτητές Πολιτικής Μηχανικής από όλα τα έτη, καθώς και μεταπτυχιακοί φοιτητές του Τμήματος.

Οι προσκεκλημένες ομιλίες και τα εκπαιδευτικά σεμινάρια από επαγγελματίες πολιτικούς μηχανικούς είναι σημαντικά στοιχεία του προγράμματος σπουδών Πολιτικής Μηχανικής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick και οργανώνονται συχνά από το Τμήμα για να ενισχύσουν τις γνώσεις και το ενδιαφέρον των φοιτητών σε ποικιλία θεμάτων σχετικών με το επάγγελμα του Πολιτικού Μηχανικού.

Within the frame of its educational seminars and talks, the Department of Civil Engineering at Frederick University has invited esteemed civil engineer Dr. Kyriakos Kyrou, geotechnical engineer and former Director of the Water Development Department, for a presentation on the topic of “The effect of swelling soils on the built environment” on Thursday 3/4/2025.

Dr. Kyrou is a highly regarded, well known specialist in the field of geotechnical engineering with many years of experience in large scale projects. He has also given presentations at universities and institutions on the topic and has published his work in journals and conferences.

The presentation was both of theoretical and practical nature with example case studies from Cyprus and abroad. Dr. Kyrou successfully transferred his knowledge and passion for research to the students who were very involved and much interested in the topic. The lecture was followed by several questions and a fruitful discussion.

Overall, the presentation proved to be a deeply informative and thought-provoking experience. Civil Engineering students from all years participated in the seminar, as well as postgraduate students of the Department.

Invited lectures and seminars by practicing civil engineers are major elements of the Civil Engineering degree at Frederick University and are frequently organised by the Department to strengthen student knowledge and interest in a variety of areas within the Civil Engineering profession.

Σεμινάριο του Τμήματος Πολιτικών Μηχανικών με θέμα “Προστασία των Ακτών και Αειφόρος Σχεδιασμός”

Μέσα στα πλαίσια των εκπαιδευτικών του σεμιναρίων και διαλέξεων, το Τμήμα Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick, προσκάλεσε τον διακεκριμένο πολιτικό μηχανικό Δρ. Αντώνη Τουμαζή για την παρουσίαση με θέμα “Προστασία των Ακτών και Αειφόρος Σχεδιασμός” τη Δευτέρα 17/3/2025. Ο Δρ. Τουμαζής θεωρείται ως ένας από τους πλέον εξειδικευμένους πολιτικούς μηχανικούς στον τομέα της ακτομηχανικής και διαθέτει σημαντική, πολυετή πρακτική εμπειρία.

Η παρουσίαση περιλάμβανε διάφορα θέματα που κράτησαν αμείωτο το ενδιαφέρον των φοιτητών όπως τα αίτια της διάβρωσης στις ακτές, τις επιπτώσεις της κλιματικής αλλαγής και περιβαλλοντικές ανησυχίες και μελλοντικές προκλήσεις. Ακολούθησε συζήτηση και ερωτήσεις από τους φοιτητές. Το σεμινάριο παρακολούθησαν φοιτητές Πολιτικής Μηχανικής από όλα τα έτη και αποδείχτηκε μία σημαντική εμπειρία δημιουργώντας ταυτόχρονα ενδιαφέρον αλλά και προβληματισμό για το θέμα.

Seminar of the Department of Civil Engineering on
“Coastal Protection and Sustainable Design”

Within the frame of its educational seminars and lectures, the Department of Civil Engineering at Frederick University has invited esteemed civil engineer Dr. Antonis Toumazis for a presentation on the topic of “Coastal Protection and Sustainable Design” on Monday 17/3/2025. Dr. Toumazis is a highly regarded specialist in the field of Coastal Engineering and has significant practical experience.

The presentation included several topics which attracted the interest of students including causes of coastal erosion, effects of climate change and environmental concerns and challenges ahead. This was followed by questions from attendees and discussion. Civil Engineering students from all years participated in the seminar and this proved to be a significant thought-provoking experience.

Seminars and invited talks by practicing engineers within a specialization area are important components of the Civil Engineering degree at Frederick University and are frequently organised by the Department to enhance student knowledge in areas that Civil Engineers are involved.

The Department of Civil Engineering at Frederick University has organised an educational field trip to the construction site of Limassol-Saittas highway project (Phase A) on Wednesday 13/11/2024. The project is currently under construction and is expected to complete by February 2025 with a cost exceeding 30 million euro. It is a vital project for the area which includes three existing schools and future residential areas, schools and a university.
Civil Engineering students from all years participated in the field trip and this proved to be a significant and worthy experience as students have observed on-site a number of engineering works including embankments, roundabouts, main and secondary roads, retaining walls, reinforced earth, in-situ testing etc. The students were informed in detail about the project on-site by the Public Works Department District Engineer Mr. Panicos Papadopoulos and Project Engineer Ms. Eftychia Mavronikola.
Field Trips are important components of the Civil Engineering degree at Frederick University and are frequently organised by the Department to help students in studying and understanding the complex nature and significance of Civil Engineering projects in practice and also to relate theory and design topics in real conditions.

🎓 ⭐ We are excited to share that the Civil Engineering Department at Frederick University has celebrated the graduation of two outstanding PhD students!

👨‍🎓 Dr. Giorgos Xekalakis, supervised by Dr. Petros Christou, for his outstanding thesis titled “Development of a Seismic Vulnerability and Risk Assessment Framework: A Study of Historical Masonry and Concrete Structures.”

👨‍🎓 Dr. Ponsian M. Robert, supervised by Dr. Demetris Nicolaides for his remarkable thesis on “Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Thermophysical, Mechanical, and Fire Performance Characteristics of Novel Sustainable Composites Developed from Recycled Construction and Demolition Waste.”

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. Their research contributes significantly to the field of civil engineering. We are confident that they will continue to achieve great things as they begin their careers. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors!

📢 🤝Today, on May 28, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Civil Engineering of Frederick University and the Cyprus Federation of Building Contractors Associations (OSEOK) - Ομοσπονδία Συνδέσμων Εργολάβων Οικοδομών Κύπρου (Ο.Σ.Ε.Ο.Κ.).
