The National Council for Childhood and Motherhood and the UNICEF, as well as The International Agency for Development Cooperation (SIDA) and the Italian Cooperation, put together the first Youth and Children Movies Festival earlier this month at the Cairo Opera House.

MSA University was present and the big news is that our very own Mass Communication students won the first place for their short movie “A Revolutionary Story.” This outstanding piece of work, headed by Dr. Affaf Tobaka and directed by student Salma AlBasyouni, reflected the ideologies, beliefs and ambitions of the youth and was a result of a collaboration between 350 students from different public and private universities. It basically tells the story of an indifferent young man who had his whole life changed after witnessing many young men and women fight for their rights and sacrifice their lives in the Egyptian revolution.

Among the attendees was Dr. Nawal El Degwi -the head of the board of trustees at MSA University, Dr. Khairy AbdelHamid -the University’s President-, Sir Philip Domaal –a representative from the UNICEF- , Dr. Amr Helmy –the Minister of Health-, Menna Shalaby –the Goodwill Ambassador to combat HIV- and Khaled Abo El Naga –the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF- and the famous actor Mahmoud Kabeel.
