Sortie de l’ouvrage “Politiques de la science-fiction”

Daniel Kaplan et Ketty Steward, PhD ont répondu ensemble aux questions de Cynthia LOPEZ-BAGOUSSE, PhD pour le livre “Politiques de la science-fiction” qu’elle a dirigé avec Ariel Kyrou et Thomas Arciszewski. L’ouvrage vient de sortir, il est beau et substantiel, et ils ont hâte de vous retrouver entre ses pages!

“On lit beaucoup de choses sur la manière dont les oeuvres de SF influencent, ou devraient influencer, l’innovation, la politique, etc. Nous ne sommes pas certains que cette influence soit aussi forte que cela. Dans notre expérience, la « démarche SF » permet avant tout aux personnes de tout questionner et de mener des expériences de pensée. D’un côté, c’est accueillant, du moins si l’on travaille à ce que ça le soit (en faisant confiance, en créant et préservant les conditions de l’échange). De l’autre, les personnes au vécu minoré ou marginalisé ne viennent pas en tant que représentantes, mais qu’individus singuliers. On peut supposer que leur imagination produira autre chose que les récits qu’on entend le plus, mais on ne peut pas leur dicter ce qu’elles doivent produire.”

We explore and open possibilities for the emergence of empowering, just and sustainable futures, by mobilizing resources of the imagination (art, fiction, speculation…). We lead experimental projects to help people imagine futures in which they play an active role.
UNIVERSITY
We organize workshops, develop educational tools, gather people during events, bring together communities of practice, etc.
NETWORK
We like to work with others and create small communities around projects and ideas.

The Changemaker Education Campaign is a program designed for young people aged 12 to 18 in a school setting. The campaign consists of two complementary elements: an illustrated handbook, and the Changemaker workshops. Based on the testimony of fellow young changemakers, the students are invited to analyse a real challenge and develop their own local project.

If you have worked or plan to work with young people (and/or as young people) on a project around questions of futures and climate change in Switzerland, we want to hear from you!

{EXPÉRIMENTATION}
C’est un exemple de discussion possible quand on propose à des enfants d’imaginer leur médiathèque municipale dans le futur. Face à l’augmentation des canicules, on dessine des solutions pour lire au frais. Pour aider les enfants à réviser, on pense à une salle équipée de robots-assistants personnels d’éducation.

Nous avons d’abord créé le plan du bâtiment futur de la médiathèque puis guidé les enfants pour y écrire les histoires qui s’y déroulent.

Une nouvelle expérimentation pour permettre à des enfants d’imaginer et d’écriture le futur avec Fatoumata.

This is an example of a possible discussion when children are asked to imagine their municipal library in the future. Faced with increasing heat waves, we design solutions for reading in a cool environment. To help children with their homework, we envision a room equipped with personal educational robots.

We first created a plan of the future library building, then guided the children in writing the stories that take place there.

A new experiment to allow children to imagine and write about the future with Fatoumata.

We are progressively realising how entangled our lives and livelihoods are with other living beings: bacterias, pollinisers, fungi, atmosphere-producers, food sources, etc.

From this realisation comes the welcome idea that humans should recognize the rights and hear the voice of these beings and their ecosystems. But how, exactly, should we do that in a way that avoids the mistakes (and horrors) of the past? How can we avoid the pitfalls of anthropomorphism? Are other species interested in talking to us and if not, how can we still listen to what they’re not telling us? We want to explore the practicalities of conscious and mindful entanglement.

Are you experimenting with concrete or speculative forms of interspecies dialogue, collaboration and diplomacy? Or researching these forms? We are looking for short(ish), interactive, experiential and/or creative propositions that would fit into the “Untameable Futures” agenda!
