Our series of International Conferences on Women and Religion returns on 23 October, live online and from the University of Birmingham campus, convened by Dr Juhi Gupta and Professor Andrew Davies. Our previous events, from the UK and Nepal, have welcomed well over 200 participants to learn about the impact religion has on women’s lives across the world. We have discussed the experiences of women of faith across the world, including in India, Nepal and the UK, and learned about some of the challenges religion poses to women’s experiences and opportunities and the ways in which women of faith are using their own religious traditions to deliver positive change for their own lives and the lives of others.

Join us for the next session on Wednesday 23 October from the University of Birmingham, as IFF in conjunction with Zakir Hussain College and the Edward Cadbury Centre gathers four excellent speakers from the UK, India and Dubai to share and to reflect upon their own experiences across Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. Registration is completely free and we issue a certificate of participation to all attenders.

Do join us if you can - registration is free via https://bit.ly/womenandreligion4 or you can scan the QR code here to register too. If you’re in the UK and would like to attend the in-person session at the University, please email [email protected] to confirm.

•FAITH IN BUSINESS•

Day 1

Our Centre Director Prof Andrew Davies and Associate Director Dr Maryyum Mehmood are attending the Dare to Overcome: Faith and Work conference hosted by the Religious Freedom & Business Foundation at The Catholic University of America Washington DC.

Day 1 opened with sessions on insights and behaviours around issues of faith and belief in society and media. Team Cadbury had a wonderful time learning from and getting to know key figures from organisations such Intel, Dell and Google amongst many others. They also enjoyed sharing their insights and expertise on the invaluable role of faith in the private sector, and how academia can facilitate crucial conversations and impactful partnerships between MNCs, the public sector and policy.

Big thank you to Prof Brian J. Grim and his team for inviting us to participate in this pertinent and engaging event. Looking forward to tomorrow!
