Bristol City Council are recruiting! Details below...

Full Time, Permanent
We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Public Health Specialist to join the Population Health team within the Communities and Public Health Division at Bristol City Council.

You will have a passion for improving the health of our population with a focus on reducing the inequalities experienced by the most vulnerable groups.

You will be highly organised with excellent skills in programme and project management, and data analysis, and have an understanding of commissioning approaches. You should be comfortable with working autonomously and at pace, and with liaising, collaborating, and negotiating with a wide range of stakeholders.

We have a number of senior public health specialists, but this role will focus particularly on sexual and reproductive health, HIV and women’s health, with the flexibility to extend to other areas when required. Although a detailed knowledge of these subject areas is not a pre-requisite, the postholder is expected to rapidly develop a secure knowledge base including an understanding of local and national policy.

Working within the team you will be required to ensure services are based on an understanding of needs, that they address health inequalities, are safe and are based on evidence of effectiveness. You will also have a role in monitoring the performance of our primary care and community providers and addressing gaps in service delivery.

You will work with colleagues and partners around service development to support health improvement including the promotion of good sexual and reproductive health, ensuring that our communications resonate with the communities most impacted.

This is likely to include working with our Healthy Schools team to ensure resources for schools are tailored to local needs. You will also support the work of our energetic Bristol Fast Track Cities partnership, which aims to accelerate the work needed to end new cases of HIV by 2030.

Working hours are flexible and hybrid working is offered.

Why Bristol City Council?

At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation. For the majority of our roles hybrid working arrangements are available, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice - mixing both home and office working.

Join us and you’ll receive an excellent rewards package including flexible working and flexitime, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and a generous annual leave allowance. In addition, you’ll be working in a supportive environment where you’ll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.

How do I apply?
