ENJOYED YOUR WELCOME WEEK? FANCY MAKING IT EVEN BIGGER AND SHOWING 800 NEW STUDENTS WHAT HIATT BAKER IS ALL ABOUT??

If you want to host the biggest events and go down as a legend on the Hiatt Baker walls, wait no longer and apply for the Welcome Week 2015 Committee now!! Looks amazing on your CV with valuable experience in events management, working in a team and handling a respectable budget!! The following 6 key positions up for grabs:

President – As the leader of the committee the main task is to keep a group ticking. You should have the ability to delegate tasks as well as take responsibility when planning events. You have to be able to provide ideas as well as listen to those brought up by the rest of the committee and be able to make decisions with the whole committee on board. Previous experience in a leadership role is recommended but not necessary.

Secretary – A secretary provides administrative support to the committee to ensure the group is operating well. Tasks include taking minutes at meetings, organising contact details and recording the progress of the group. You will have to advertise the events which include creating posters and sending out emails or Facebook posts. Good organisation skills are vital to this role to ensure efficient processing of tasks.

Treasurer – You will be in charge of the entire budget available. You’re main task is to reasonably budget for all the various needs and ensure that spending is on track with the budget. A sound mind is required to be able to account for all the ideas provided and evaluate which of those is truly necessary and those that can be avoided. A clear record has to be kept of all the finances as you will be held liable for the budget.

Event Organisers (x3) – If you like to host fancy events and see others enjoy, this is for you. You will have to organise events both inside and outside of halls. This includes liaising with the union and other halls for the university wide events in Welcome Week. Events have to be of a good variety catering for all students’ needs (including non-drinkers). You will be in charge of making clear to everyone the details of the events which includes creating and putting up posters and Facebook posts. Creativity and diversity are of utmost importance to this role.

It will require some of your time over the summer and your presence just before Welcome Week (19-27 Sep 2015) to ensure everything runs smoothly.

WRISTBAND EXCHANGE is just 7-9 tonight in the bar, not 4-6, check the email we sent out for details

THE WRISTBANDS EXPLAINED: Sorry but I met with the hub committee and they said we can't just let people choose what coach they want to get, like we were going to. So everyone gets the fabric wristband, then also:

Blue Paper Wristbands: Meal entry (7:00pm) and first wave of coaches (11:05-11:20, fireworks finish about 10:55 so you'll have a little time to get changed after fireworks if you want, but about 100 girls are going to be doing the same thing so be quick if you want to fit on the last bus from that wave before they leave).
Red Paper Wristbands: Hall entry (9:30pm) and second wave of coaches (11:35-12:50). Between the fireworks finishing and the coaches leaving you go back to the hall to enjoy the entertainment a little more.

IF YOU MISS YOUR WAVE you have to wait for the final wave from 12:05-12:20, bar shuts at 12:00 so make sure you get your wave- first wave will get you there about midnight, which is perfect anyway.

WRISTBAND EXCHANGE AT 2:00pm TODAY OUTSIDE SOURCE. Come pick up one of these fancy new wristbands (artistically photographed below)- just bring your Ucard and remember you need to decide what wave of the free coaches you want to get on BEFORE YOU COME. Either straight after the fireworks from 11-11:20 (getting you there about midnight) or wait for the second wave from 11:35-11:50.
Also, although we've sold most of our tickets, Marble Factory has enough capacity for us to offload a few more, so if you fancy buying one just stop by Source.
