Happy Birthday Sir David.
FdSc Animal Health and Management students, like many animal science enthusiasts around the world, took a well-earned break from exam revision to celebrate a truly extraordinary milestone: the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough. A renowned natural historian, pioneering filmmaker, passionate conservation advocate, and—quite simply—an icon, Sir David’s influence on our understanding of the natural world is unparalleled.
To mark the occasion, students gathered to reflect on the profound impact of his work, sharing their favourite clips that have inspired generations to appreciate and protect the planet. From breath taking encounters with wildlife to the gentle, unmistakable narration that has become synonymous with natural history storytelling, these moments reminded us all why his legacy endures.
In what felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, we were incredibly fortunate to be joined if only in cardboard by the man himself, as we revisited scenes of him at his very best: engaging with animals, bringing ecosystems to life, and communicating complex environmental issues with clarity and passion. His work has not only shaped our academic journeys but continues to guide our aspirations as future professionals in animal health and management.
Celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s centenary was more than just a tribute; it was a reminder of the responsibility we carry forward—to continue learning, advocating, and caring for the natural world with the same dedication and curiosity that he has embodied throughout his remarkable life.
Happy Birthday David - have a fabulous day 😊
