π΄β«οΈ CRFC - Levelled Up βοΈπ΄β«οΈ
Carrickfergus RFC is delighted to announce the completion of the final project funded through the Levelling Up Fund grant.
The first phase of the funding saw the successful upgrade of the LED floodlighting on Pitch 2 in 2024. In 2025, an accessible pathway was installed at Pitch 1, alongside the provision of new substitute benches for both teams.
This week, the final stage of the project was completed with the installation of 42 solar panels and supporting battery storage systems. This significant investment will substantially reduce the clubβs running costs while further enhancing its environmental sustainability. Combined with the LED floodlighting upgrade, the project represents a major step forward in reducing the clubβs carbon footprint and improving the long-term sustainability of our facilities.
The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Cheryl Brownlee MLA and Councillor Marc Collins for their support and assistance throughout these projects. We would also like to thank Matthew Holmes from Ulster Rugby for his guidance and expertise, which have been invaluable in bringing these initiatives to a successful conclusion.
These improvements will benefit our members, players, volunteers and the wider community for many years to come, and we are proud to have delivered projects that support both accessibility and environmental responsibility at Carrickfergus RFC.
