This week, our HE learners have been putting our new Beam Testing Kit to the test!

Using the Tecquipment SM1004 Beam Testing Kit, our Level 4 and 5 learners on the mechanical and dual skill pathways are investigating how beams behave under different loading conditions.

The experiment allows learners to compare their theoretical calculations with experimental results, helping them develop their understanding of engineering principles in practice.

We want to congratulate Emelia on her successful trip to Yankton, South Dakota, where she represented Team GB at the World Field Championships.

The weather conditions weren’t great, and parts of the course even had to be cancelled after being deemed unsafe. Despite the challenging conditions, Emelia finished an incredible 5th in the world! 🌎

And the success didn’t stop there… Emelia went on to win a silver medal in the mixed team event, alongside her teammate Ed. 🥈

What an incredible achievement! We’re incredibly proud to sponsor Emelia and support her as she continues to represent Great Britain on the world stage.

Huge well done and congratulations, Emelia! 👏🏹

On Wednesday and Thursday of induction week, we hosted our GET Together Days at Old Richians Rugby Club.

The sun was shining for two brilliant days of team building with our new cohort! ☀️

The days were a great opportunity for our apprentices to get to know each other, have some fun and work together on a range of challenges alongside the GET delivery team.

There was something for everyone, from egg & spoon races and PPE relays to windmill building and LEGO creations!

It was also great to see some of our board members and employers, who came along to get involved.

A brilliant couple of days to start their GET journey! 🚀

GETs favourite night of the year took place last night. The annual presentation evening!

It's our way of celebrating the apprentices, employers, GET team and all of the achievements over the last 12 months.

Thank you to for sponsoring the evening, Ruth for organising such a brilliant event, for presenting the evening, Jordan Quinn for his inspirational speech and to all of the employers who continue to sponsor and present these fantastic awards!

A huge well done to all achievers, nominees and winners 🏆

Summer Round Up! ☀️

We may not have been training apprentices over the summer, but that doesn’t mean we’ve all been relaxing in the sunshine! 😎

Here are some of our summer highlights:

🔹️ The learner entrance and reception have had a freshen-up
🔹️ Warren, Les, Jake and Gerard attended the HTEC Conference in the US
🔹️ Our maintenance area has had a revamp
🔹️ Jenny attended the recording of Steph McGovern’s Vocational Celebration Day podcast, hosted at Teagle Engineering in Truro
🔹️ Enrolment sessions with our new starters
🔹️ Skills training in welding and electrical
🔹️ Induction planning ready for all our new Level 3 and Level 4 apprentices

And this evening, we’re hosting our Welcome Evening! This is a great opportunity for our new cohort and their families to tour the centre, meet the team and find out more about life at GET.

We’re excited and looking forward to starting a new academic year.

Bring on the 2026 cohort! 🎉

Another pneumatics course completed at GET 🙌

On the 2.5 day course the delegates learnt about compressed air safety, air preparation, distribution and then spent time building and testing circuits from drawings, then even modifying and creating their own circuits.

If you are interested in booking onto this course, please contact [email protected] or visit our website.

Happy Vocational Celebration Day!

Today, we're celebrating the power of vocational education and the opportunities it creates for learners, employers and the engineering industry.

Apprenticeships provide the chance to earn, learn and develop the practical skills needed for a successful career in engineering. Every day, we're proud to support apprentices as they gain the knowledge, confidence and hands-on experience that will shape the future of manufacturing and engineering.

Jordan's journey is a fantastic example of what vocational education can achieve. At the age of 26, Jordan joined GET in 2019 after being out of education for several years. Since then, he has successfully completed his Level 3 Engineering apprenticeship, followed by an HNC and HND, completing in July 2026.

His story is an inspiration, showing that it's never too late to learn new skills, progress your career or take a new direction. Whether you're leaving school or considering a career change, vocational education can open the door to incredible opportunities.

A huge thank you to our apprentices, employer partners and dedicated staff who make vocational education such a success.

Here's to inspiring the next generation of engineers! ⚙️🔩
