We had a great day today at our Business West Hartpury Skills and Careers Fest 26, working with Business West to ensure young people are aware of the opportunities available within their chosen industries while helping employers influence the future skills pipeline.

The event supported the ambitions of the Gloucestershire Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), creating meaningful collaboration between employers, education providers and industry partners to address workforce challenges and future skills needs. Thank you to all the employers and educators that attended, it was a very insightful day for our college students 👏

Our college equine students recently had the incredible opportunity to travel to Vale de Ferreiros in Portugal, where they immersed themselves in both equestrian excellence and Portuguese culture.

Throughout the trip, students enjoyed scenic hacks through the countryside and along the beautiful Tagus River, while also building confidence and refining their technique during jumping sessions on a variety of horses. Dressage lessons on Lusitanos provided the chance to further develop their riding skills, including working in double bridles and exploring more advanced movements. 🏇

Beyond the saddle, students took part in a guided visit to the historic Alter Real Stud, learning about the rich heritage of Portugal’s longest-running Lusitano breeding programme. They also explored the city of Abrantes, visiting its castle and museums.

An unforgettable experience for both students and staff 🤩 Discover more about our equine diplomas: https://www.hartpury.ac.uk/college/study/equine/

Our student rowers delivered a historic performance at the National Schools’ Regatta, securing multiple medals and a top 10 finish against 159 clubs and schools, in one of the UK’s most competitive junior rowing events! 🤩

The highlight of the regatta saw Hartpury make history by winning both the Championship Girls’ Double Sculls and Championship Open Double Sculls titles, believed to be the first time any club or school has achieved the double in the history of the National Schools’ Regatta 👏

An incredible achievement, read all about it: https://www.hartpury.ac.uk/news/2026/05/historic-double-gold-helps-hartpury-rowers-secure-top-10-finish-at-national-schools-regatta/

Our college animal students got to enjoy an incredible falconry display by Wye Valley Falconry last week. They watched an owl, hawks, a falcon and an eagle flying up close, providing a fantastic opportunity to learn about these amazing birds. 🦉🦅
