Very happy to confirm that novelist Rodge Glass has been appointed to a Senior Lectureship in Creative Writing at Strathclyde, starting in January 2020. Indeed, it's a case of 'welcome back' as Rodge has worked with us before in a number of different capacities and was much loved by students and staff alike.
Rodge will be taking over from David Kinloch who is retiring after almost 30 years service at Strathclyde. David has also had many roles at the university and has been a guiding light in the creative writing department especially - a real source of wisdom and generous support to so many students, many of whom will remember their first encounter with him being his cold-open dramatic reading of Edwin Morgan’s ‘The Loch Ness Monster’s Song’ which starts with the lines:
‘Sssnnnwhuffffll?
Hnwhuffl hhnnwfl hnfl hfl?
Gdroblboblhobngbl gbl gl g g g g glbgl.’
Wishing him all the best for what comes next. It’s all change!
