Editing is the process of sharpening your work: restructuring, suggesting ways to divide an essay by better organization of your notes (easier than it sounds), showing ways for you to get your argument across. Proofreading clears up all the stylistic mistakes that can often lead to an essay being marked down: spelling, grammar, syntax, formatting. By the time your work has been polished, it is still your contribution, but much improved. If your teacher or supervisor expresses any doubts about your using this service, just put them directly in touch with me and I will explain what I do. This is a long way away from plagiarism (unless you've copied your material from elsewhere!). Fees: I charge per thousand words, as follows: £10 for native speakers and good quality overseas speakers £20 for overseas students with poor English. Thus, a five thousand-word essay will come to £50. Method: Everything is done electronically. Send me your essay or dissertation as a Word document attached to an e-mail. I will put this in my file and start work on it by clicking on Track Changes. If you're not familiar with this, go to Word Help and familiarize yourself with how it works. It's a simple way of tracking editorial and proofreading changes as they occur in the text.
