KUSCO x Fashion & Fabrication Pathway
Foundation Studies in Art, Design & Media Practice

This project is all about people. Now in its fourth iteration, this collaborative brief invites students to thoughtfully co-design with the people who keep our university running - the Kingston University Service Company.

Over the past two weeks, we -the Foundation Fashion and Fabrication students - have worked with KUSCO team members to create bespoke garments and accessories for their everyday use. We have been meeting up, conducting interviews, sharing ideas,
designing and overall striving together to reach an outcome that’s tailored, both physically and metaphorically, and will hopefully be cherished and well-used. This project is about seeing, noticing and observing; it is about trying to work out what our collaborator wants or needs without them necessarily specifying it. It has tested us in our professional and technical practice whilst being a wonderfully fulfilling experience. To work with such rich and real individuals was the true gift of this process.
In this exhibition you can see garments and accessories.

The portrait series was photographed by Anna Brooks.

Big thanks to everybody who has given their time and expertise to the project:
Nigel Bell, Wayne Bass, Kieran O’Connor, Melanie Brookes, Sebastian Rock, Jenna Young, Symran Shah, Liam O’Connor, Flo Garvey, Orlando Fasanya, Lois Johnston, Ruby Sims & Rebecca Davies.

MFA Exhibition Opening and Publication Launch Today

The Swan Project Space

Opening: Tuesday, 3 February, 5.00 – 7.00 pm

Open 4th and 5th February, 10 am – 5pm

INHERITANCE is an exhibition emerging from a two-day residency at Dorich House Museum by MFA Fine Art students. Responding to the museum’s spaces and collection, students translated their encounters into works that map the site’s sonic qualities, histories, and curatorial structures onto the spaces of the Swan, producing a facsimile of the institution—its objects, logics, and atmospheres.

Dorich House Museum is the former home and studio of artist Dora Gordine and her partner, art historian Richard Hare, and is now owned and managed by Kingston University. Designed and built by the couple in 1936, the house later fell into abandonment and was squatted and used for raves in the early 1990s. It subsequently assumed the role of an East European Art Deco residence for Nic Roeg’s penultimate feature film, Two Deaths (1995), before formally opening as a museum in 1996. Today, the house operates as a palimpsest of its layered history and the lives of its creators.

INHERITANCE examines this overlapping and inscribes its investigation into the spaces of the Swan. Works include field recordings from the house’s interior and exterior, collaged into a sonic distillation of the site; a highly subjective guided tour; a set of instructions for viewing the house; a curtain painted and installed at Dorich House and later reinstalled at the Swan, inflecting its spaces with the palette of the museum interiors; and analogue photographs of Chinese furniture from the house, chemically washed and projected.

The opening of INHERITANCE will also serve as the launch event for L.INK, an MFA Fine Art student-edited publication that platforms critical voices writing on culture and politics.

‘Reading the Road: A Creative Walk through Hook’

Saturday 15 November 2025 1pm–3pm.
Location: Hook Centre, Hook Road, Chessington KT9 1EJ.

Come join us for this fascinating and fun short guided creative walk and workshop in Hook. The short walk, which begins and ends at the Hook Centre, will involve our walking and reading together. We’ll read extracts from diverse literary texts, including ones by local writers or which have been directly inspired by or connect in interesting ways with Hook’s environment and history. Then, through a creative mapmaking workshop, we’ll explore how the experience of reading this literary material in situ might allow us to express some of our feelings about and hopes for our immediate surroundings.

‘Reading the Road’ has been organised by Kingston School of Art staff Martin Dines and Éadaoin Agnew in collaboration with The Community Brain and with the support of the Design, Arts and Creative Practice KERI. Our event is part of the UK-wide Being Human Festival, which celebrates how the humanities inspire and enrich our everyday lives.

This event is free to attend, though booking is required, and places are limited. This event is fully accessible, and refreshments will be served.

Performing Arts alumnus working in TV spotlighted on Lifestyle Asia. "If you can’t wait for season 3 of The White Lotus, you’re not alone. The third instalment of the black comedy drama TV series is sure to captivate audiences worldwide, thanks to its gripping plot line, witty script, and spectacular cast line-up, one of whom is Maethi Tayme Thapthimthong, who plays a security guard named Gaitok at The White Lotus resort. We get an exciting sneak peek into the Thai actor’s world, learn about his unique childhood, and how he prepared for his big role.

Tayme is a man of many talents, and he has led an interesting life. Born and raised in England, Tayme spent three years as a Royal Marine Cadet while going through high school which sparked his love for the military. While studying at Kingston University, Tayme would spend his weekends working as a bouncer at nightclubs in and around London. He eventually got a chance to train with an ex-SAS soldier before applying for the Royal Marine Commandos, though, due to medical reasons, he could not get through training. After moving back to Thailand, Tayme participated in season 10 of the famous Thai singing competition Academy Fantasia, winning the runner-up title. This contest opened many doors for him, including landing roles in movies like Skin Trade, Farang, the Netflix series Thai Cave Rescue, and more."
