We welcomed back former Level 2 Electrical Installation student Eli, who returned to share his journey with current learners after securing a Level 3 Apprenticeship with UK Power Networks. Speaking alongside Tasha Paramasamy, STEM Outreach and Development Specialist, Eli gave students a valuable insight into life as an apprentice, highlighting the varied, challenging and rewarding nature of the role. Reflecting on his time at college, Eli described it as “the best decision I made,” summing it up simply he said: “Life is good.”

Kingston College students have delivered a major large-scale art installation for Unilever new UK headquarters, Sunlight House, through a live Future Skills brief.

Working alongside Kingston University, students responded to a real-world design challenge set by Unilever, creating artwork that celebrates Kingston’s history, culture, architecture and natural environment. The winning pieces are now installed across the ground floor reception area, on display to employees, visitors and the wider public.

Supported by Overbury and Perkins&Will the seven-month project gave students invaluable hands-on experience, from concept development and client presentations through to large-scale production and installation. Students worked to professional standards, responded to feedback from industry leaders and gained insight into creative careers in practice.

This collaboration highlights the power of partnerships between education and industry, helping to develop the next generation of creative talent while enriching a major new workplace with meaningful, locally inspired art.

Meet Access to Science student, Yvonne. She says as a mature student, returning to education was a nerve‑racking step - but one that has transformed her confidence. After starting with GCSEs, she progressed onto Access to HE - Science and is now preparing to study BSc (Hons) Nutrition & Health at Roehampton uni.

“The course is challenging but fascinating and rewarding. I’ve gained valuable skills, but most of all, my confidence has soared. I believe in myself and the things I can achieve. I would absolutely recommend it - no matter where you’re starting from, just take that first step.”
