Hi guys! I'm Nicole a second-year Theater student and I'll be taking over the SingSoc this year 🙂 As you might have heard, we didn't manage to get our society registered under LUSU so we are thinking of restructuring it. Rather than a society kind of s o c i e t y, this group is meant to be more of a social support structure. It will be geared towards creating a sense of community, a group where Singaporeans/or really anyone can come to for companionship. In essence, less of making Sing Soc a society to promote/educate about Singapore, Sing Soc will be more casual, more of a group of friends who happen to be Singaporeans, or interested in being friends with Singaporeans.
Hence things to look forward to will be gatherings to catch up, dinners, outings together. Reminisce about home or just a chance to use Singlish again lah. We will still work together with other societies for big events (Ie. Malaysia society and CNY celebrations). If the opportunity arises, we will also reach out to Sing Socs from other universities for cross-university events. In the future should membership pick up, we will try to register with LUSU again.
