Oakee has officially passed PAWS for Therapy, which is an important recognition of his role as part of our specialist provision at The Vine campus. His involvement is planned carefully around learner needs, preferences and welfare arrangements.

Building work to expand our Temple Newsam campus is taking! 🏗

Our new £6 million upgrade for our School of Animal Care and Land Management will open training opportunities for more young people who have a passion for animals and the natural environment.

Facilities will include seven classrooms, a reception area, a dog grooming salon, a workshop, and dedicated student social spaces capable of accommodating up to 300 students.

Head of the School of Land and Animal Management, Jack Anderson, said: “There is a growing demand for the kinds of courses that we are fortunate to be able to offer from our base in the fantastic grounds of Temple Newsam.

“It’s an exciting time and we’re really looking forward to showing students, prospective students and guests around when the work is completed later this year.”

We’re proud to see our students’ voices making a difference!

During the last academic year, Leeds City College students, based at our Park Lane and Quarry Hill campuses, explored issues affecting their communities, focusing on bus safety and air pollution.

They researched bus franchising, created a petition and met with West Yorkshire Combined Authority to call for:

🚌 Safer, cleaner and more reliable buses

⚡ More electric buses

⏲️ 24-hour disabled bus passes

It’s fantastic to see their campaigning contributing to positive change, with 24-hour disabled bus passes now set to be introduced nationwide from April 2027.

Well done to everyone involved!

Disability rights and sustainable transport campaigners have pushed for time restrictions on disabled bus passes to be scrapped for many years. This is because accessible and affordable public transport is good for both the climate and people.

It's been a day of celebrating and supporting our Level 3 learners as they received their results for A Levels, T Levels, BTECs and other vocational qualifications.

Some of the students we spoke to today include:

Lizzy, who achieved a treble distinction star in her Design & Production Diploma and is off to study at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama 💃

Molly, who did a Level 3 Animal Care Technical Certificate and has secured a spot at Nottingham Trent University to study Animal Biology 🐷

Alex, who passed his Design and Development Engineering T Level, and will be starting an apprenticeship at Barkston Plastics 💼

Muawwidh and Dan, who passed their T Level in Business Administration, and are starting apprenticeships with the Department for Work and Pensions - DWP 💼

No matter how today went, however, we're always here to support with options and next steps. 🩷

Our Horticulture students played a key role in creating a show garden which won the bronze Gilt Medal at the RHS Sandringham Flower Show. 🎖️

Working in partnership with Constructing Minds with Nature, a landscape design studio for charitable and community gardens, our learners joined the team behind Mindful Meadowlands - a show garden exhibited at the prestigious RHS Sandringham Flower Show, held on the King’s Sandringham Estate in July. 🌸

The students supported the garden’s final planting phase, helping to prepare the exhibit for judging and its public debut.

Congratulations to our students and staff from our School of Land and Animal Management on this achievement. 👏
