This upcoming panel discussion will feature two of the UCL ExCiteS team, Muki and Marcos, as well as being run by Artemis. We'd love to see you there.

We invite researchers, students and anyone with an interest in citizen science, hackathons or makeathons to join our webinar on Higher Education Institution Ethics for Digital Action during Covid-19.

We will discuss ethics for Digital Action, and through the lenses of various different Digital Action projects, we will analyse how the pandemic and its restrictions influenced project design and implementation, what the ethical implications were and what we have learned and how we will apply this in the future.

Scan the QR code on the flyer or register here on Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hei-ethics-for-digital-action-during-covid-19-tickets-467606532727 for Tuesday 29th November, 4:30pm GMT. Free and no prior knowledge or experience required! Please feel free to share among your networks and we hope to see you there.

In November, the HEIDI Project are holding three to map of HEI staff, voluntary and community groups. Do you participate in activities such as citizen science, hackathons, datathons, makeathons - or something like this? Or, would you like to, but have not found it easy to do?

The HEIDI Project is in its final stages and is now mapping the requirements for bottom-up digital action. We'd love to hear your stories about it - even if your story is that you have not been able to take part, because that tells us more about the barriers! Read more here: https://heidiproject.eu/io5-he-guide-to-address-needs-and-requirements-for-embracing-bottom-up-digital-action-in-he-practices/

Join us at UCL to discuss the challenges, barriers, requirements and the hoped-for impacts of digital action at one of the following:

Community Groups Roundtable, Tuesday 15th Nov, 5:30pm GMT: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/community-groups-roundtable-understanding-needs-for-digital-action-tickets-435623901817

On Monday, a week today, we'll be running another webinar. This will be a very informal, non-academic one, aimed at people who'd like to try out a citizen science app to do some wildlife identification. For example, keen gardeners or conservation volunteers, or for parents with young children who'd like to get outside over the summer. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/summer-citizen-science-wildlife-spotting-tickets-372796031967

This webinar is being run as part of the HEIDI Project. It will be at 6:30pm BST on Monday 11th July on Zoom.

20/06/2022

This Wednesday, 15:30-17:00 BST (or 16:30-18:00 CEST): "Grassroots Data Wranglers"

https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/grassroots-data-wranglers-tickets-348781202967

How is data collected? Often a top-down process, we will be hearing from people from civil and independent organisations who are doing it in a different way. They may be challenging established narratives, filling gaps, searching where there are inaccessibilities. This event is open to anyone interested - especially NGOs and journalists - and ExCiteS would love to see you there.

17/06/2022

One more event from our friends HEIDI! The ExCiteS Director, Muki Haklay, will be one of the speakers.
