2025 has been an innovative year at UCL. As the year draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on some of the ways UCL Innovation & Enterprise has been supporting, empowering and celebrating the UCL community make an impact through knowledge exchange and innovation.
A number of highlights this year include:
✨ UCL being recognised as a leading university in the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) for the fifth year in a row
✨ The launch of the UCL Global Industrial Technology Cooperation Centre (GITCC), a major collaboration between UCL and South Korea which aims to advance terrestrial, maritime and aerospace technologies
✨ The UK’s creative and cultural sectors will benefit from a new Creative Experience Lab, launched by UCL and Loughborough University London. The new hub will enable new live experiences to be co-created with partners like V&A East, using technologies such as AI and robotics
✨ The first ever treatment for the rare neurodegenerative disease Friedrich’s ataxia – for which UCL and UCLH led the UK trial – was also approved for use in the UK
✨ UCL hosting London Demo Day where twenty exciting early-stage ventures pitched to an audience of 600 guests, including investors, for the chance of raising between £100,000 and £2 million
✨ 10 years of supporting entrepreneurship at UCL at BaseKX in King’s Cross, UCL’s Entrepreneurship Hub
✨ We celebrated staff, students and alumni leading the way in knowledge exchange and innovation at annual awards ceremony, ‘Creating Impact Through Knowledge Exchange 2025 Awards’
