LSE Law School

LSE Law School LSE Law School is an integral part of LSE’s mission, plays a major role in policy debates & in the education of lawyers and law teachers from around the world.

Since the foundation of LSE just over a century ago, the study of law has been an integral part of the School's mission. LSE Law School’s unique background in social sciences has given our legal studies a distinctive, interdisciplinary character. LSE Law School has played a major role in policy debates and policy-making and in the education of lawyers and law teachers from around the world. It enj

oys a uniquely cosmopolitan student body, and has deeply influenced legal education in most common law countries. Staff and students at LSE Law School come from all over the world, and bring an unparalleled international and interdisciplinary outlook in teaching and research. This has always been the mission of LSE Law School. As an important vehicle for this approach to legal studies, members of LSE were prominent among the founders of the Modern Law Review, a journal that quickly achieved an international and influential role at the forefront of legal scholarship. Closely linked to this innovative approach has been the exploration of new fields of study. Many important subjects were first taught and examined systematically from an academic perspective at LSE. These include banking law, taxation law, civil litigation, company law, labour law, family law, aspects of welfare law, and studies of the legal system and the legal profession. These subjects, and many others, have since become central to the concerns of lawyers and researchers. Twitter: www.twitter.com/LSELaw

We were honoured to open Art from Guantánamo, by Abu Zubaydah at LSE last week, with remarks from Professor Helen Duffy, Professor of Human Rights & Humanitarian Law at Leiden University, Director of Human Rights in Practice, and international legal counsel for Abu Zubaydah.

Now open at the Atrium Gallery, LSE, the exhibition presents the artwork of Abu Zubaydah, dubbed the “forever prisoner”, who has been detained at Guantánamo Bay for 24 years without charge or trial. Unable to communicate with the outside world, he speaks through his art, offering a powerful insight into torture, arbitrary detention, and the pursuit of justice.

On display 11 May – 5 June
Atrium Gallery, Ground Floor, Old Building, Houghton Street, LSE

Free admission

⚠️ Please note: this exhibition contains graphic depictions of torture and abuse.

AI is rewriting the legal industry. The billable hour is under pressure. The General Counsel role has never been more complex, or more consequential.

Bjarne Tellmann has led legal teams across four continents and three decades. He brought that experience to the LSE Law School for his General Counsel Masterclass series, and into his new book, Law in the Era of AI.

The future belongs to lawyers who see it coming.

✨ An evening to remember. Last month, our LLM students and LSE Law School academics came together for the LLM Annual Dinner at the stunning Great Hall of Lincoln's Inn, one of London's most historic and beautiful venues.

From reception drinks to a three-course dinner, the night was filled with great conversation, shared memories, and a celebration of everything our LLM community has achieved this year. 🎓

Here's to the friendships and connections made along the way. We can't wait to do it all again. 🥂
