☀️ We have had the most brilliant day today. We set off early, and arrived at Saltburn Beach before anyone else!
We have played in the sand, made rock faces and pebbly ice creams - we then had real ice cream!
There was lots of running around the beach, jumping in the sea and chasing the waves. We even had fish and chips (plus cucumber and fruit) for lunch!

Scarecrow entries are now closed and maps have been made and are in Moorside Store and Daisy Garden Centre for you to buy!! Thank you to everyone who entered we have a big 35 entries thank you so much!!!
Maps are £2 each which includes a raffle ticket which will be drawn on Sunday 31st at 3 30pm at the scout hut where we will be selling drinks and some yummys cakes, having some games and lots of chat!! You will also be able to vote for you favourite scarecrow!!! Who will be this years winner?????

Every section of the scouts are super excited and we look forward to see Kirkbymoorside filled with scarecrows on the 29th to the 31st may!!

🦋 We had a fantastic time watching all the butterflies at Butterfly World. We were enthralled by the butterfly that sat on our hand. We even managed to spot a tickly caterpillar! 🦋

We had a picnic lunch followed by a play in the wonderful park and a walk down to the river as the sun came out.

It wouldn't be a school holiday without a visit to Beetle Bank Farm!
Lots of animal feeding and cuddling, and sloppy licks from Caramel the cow! The goats 'escaped' from their paddock and were very insistent that we fed and petted them!
We loved meeting Hades the little owl, and Barney the eagle owl who were visiting with Gosling Raptors.

We've had an amazing day!
We started off in Thornton-le-Dale at the duck pond, feeding the ducks. We then had a walk (and an icecream!). Pond dipping was great fun. We found water boatmen, snails, leeches, cadisfly larve and the huge 'pond monster'! With help from friends it was soon identified as a dragonfly nymph.
We had lunch at Baldersons, and then headed off to cool down in the Beck (and mud!) at Dalby Forest! We finished the day off with a picnic tea.
What a day!

🐝 This week we've been finding out all about bees. 🐝
We've really enjoyed our sensory table bits from Perry's Woodcraft. We've created bee artwork and made some honey soda bread, as well as enjoying honey sandwiches and other lovely fruits that have grown because they've been pollinated by bees.

🐐 We had a fabulous visit to Beetle Bank Farm today. We loved feeding all the animals and the goats were very cheeky. Caramel was very licky, and her calf Clarissa is very cute. We had kisses from Autumn the Alpaca and rabbit and guinea pig cuddles.
A delicious lunch, fun on the bouncy castle and we made amazing music on the new percussion instruments.

Thank you Kathy and South Cliff gardens for a wonderful Fun Music session this morning. We avoided the rain and had so much fun singing and dancing, playing instruments, using the parachute, catching bubbles and then listening to Kathy play her instruments.
We followed it up with a picnic in the Italian Gardens.

Sun Safety for Babies, Toddlers & Children

Babies under 6 months
Keep out of direct sunlight
Use shade, wide‑brimmed hats and loose, long‑sleeved clothing
Sunscreen is not recommended – speak to a health professional if unsure

Babies over 6 months, toddlers & children
✅ Use SPF 30+ (or higher) sunscreen
✅ Apply generously and reapply every 2 hours, and after swimming
✅ Wear hats, sunglasses and protective clothing
✅ Encourage play in the shade, especially between 11am–3pm
✅ Keep children hydrated with regular drinks
Remember: Sunburn in childhood increases the risk of skin damage later in life.
