University of Exeter, Politics at Penryn

University of Exeter, Politics at Penryn Welcome to the official page for the University of Exeter Politics and International Relations degree at our Penryn campus in Cornwall.

We specialise in politics in action: understanding the theory of politics, but also how it is applied in the world beyond the classroom and lecture theatre. You will be able to complement your academic studies with a field trip to New York to explore global governance organisations such as the United Nations; undertake consultancy work placements as a part of some assessed modules, giving you the

opportunity to apply theoretical material; and explore and participate in social movement activity. Our current research and teaching specialisms cover American and electoral politics, politics of protest and environmental movements, critical security studies, Middle East politics, International relations, European governance, Chinese politics, environmental politics, regional politics and political theory. We know that whilst you want to study for a degree because you are fascinated and excited by the topic, that you also want to have the opportunity to develop skills that will help you in the workplace in the future. To this end, and to complement the excellent employability opportunities offered throughout the university at the Penryn campus (including the Exeter Award), we embed work related skills across our programme, even offering a 15 credit work placement module. Finally, we are a small and friendly department, giving you unparallelled access to, and support from academic and administrative staff. Your education is important to us, and we enjoy teaching you, througout your degree programme. This is reflected in the outstanding results that our students achieve by the time they graduate. Come and meet us at one of our open days! You'll find the link here. http://www.exeter.ac.uk/undergraduate/visiting/opendays/

This exciting new interdisciplinary endeavour interweaves insights from the disciplines of History, Law, Politics, Modern Languages, Archaeology, and Literature. Our work examines societies, cultures, and justice in the past, present and future. We work broadly across humanities and social sciences, and with other disciplines, to help make the world a better place for all. Our research and teaching interests are diverse and overlapping. Just as we did as Politics at Penryn, we continue to offer a unique educational and research environment for our students and staff. We cover the core curricula of our respective disciplines, but also work creatively across our disciplines.
You can find out more about the work of the department and the ongoing work of Politics at Penryn on our new webpages: https://hass-cornwall.exeter.ac.uk/

Day 4. An introduction to the way city leaders have handled the community conversations raised by the Colston statue, and how city government has navigated its leadership role in the local, national, and global conversations following Black Lives Matter and the toppling of the Colston statue. Massive thanks to Francesca, our Politics Penryn alumni who arranged our meetings with the Mayors Office and the M-Shed museum.
