Do you have a child born between February 2023 – September 2023?
Would you like to help train University of Reading’s Speech and Language Therapists of the future?
At the start of their training, each speech and language therapy student has to observe a toddler in a home setting. This helps them to understand child development, and to practice talking with parents. This is excellent preparation for later in their training, when the students will meet children in clinical situations. Please note that as our students are in the process of learning to be speech and language therapists, they will not be able to offer any direct speech and language therapy advice or input.
Each year we look for 60 families with a toddler to participate in the programme. The visits start towards the end of this year and continue for just over a year; please get in touch now for more information if you’re interested in being involved.
A previous participant recently said “We've done this with two of our children now. It's been such a lovely experience and such a worthwhile thing to do. It really isn't an imposition at all - students just visit you at home, observe and talk to you and your child. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a child the right age”
If you know other families that you think might be interested, please feel free to give them these details, or share them on any parent WhatsApp / social media groups you may belong to as well.
Please contact me via our page or the email address below. Please contact me as soon as possible as I will be matching students with families from August 2024.
Many thanks
