On Saturday, a member of Rochford Hundred Lodge 8922 had the pleasure of visiting the Pitsea St Michael’s Scout Group to present a £200 donation from the Lodge, marking and supporting the group’s impressive 100-year anniversary.

The donation will help contribute towards events lined up to celebrate their centenary, including a group camp and a trip to Colchester Zoo. It’s all part of making the year one to remember for the young people involved.

The member who attended has a long personal history with the group, having been a Beaver, Cub, Scout, and Venture Scout there between 1987 and 2002. Returning to see the group still thriving was a special moment, complete with a bit of nostalgia as he even dug out and wore his old Scout scarf! It was great to see familiar faces and meet the new generation of Scouts continuing the legacy.

Supporting local youth groups like this is just one way Freemasons get involved in their communities, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping them continue to flourish.

Last night we hosted a Blue Table event at Rochford Hundred Lodge 8922, and what a brilliant evening it was!

We were joined by eight non-Masons and one unattached Brother, all of whom got a relaxed and friendly introduction to Freemasonry. After opening and completing a bit of Lodge business, we welcomed our guests with a complimentary drink, served by some of our younger members in the bar.

Everyone was then invited into the temple, where W.Bro. Lee Taylor gave an informative and enjoyable talk on what Freemasonry is all about. Each of the Lodge officers also explained their roles, and our Membership Officer introduced himself, handed out guides to Freemasonry in Essex, and shared contact details for anyone who wanted to learn more.

The evening continued back in the bar and over dinner, where guests were seated with a good mix of members, younger and more experienced, to give them a real feel for the Lodge and what we’re about. The room was full of conversation, questions, and laughter throughout.

Will we see any new members join from the evening? Time will tell. But what we definitely gained was a brilliant night, great company, and another reminder of why Freemasonry means so much to us.

Curious about Freemasonry or interested in joining? Just ask!

Last night at Rochford Hundred Lodge, we had another fantastic evening of Freemasonry, where we performed a presentation of an initiation ceremony with the help of our special guest, W.Bro. Charles Elliot. It was a brilliant display of teamwork and dedication, with the Worshipful Master delivering a word-perfect first degree in only his first meeting since installation.

Bro. Adil Khan gave an excellent charge, Bro. Chris Hayden delivered a superb explanation of the first-degree working tools, and our Junior Deacon, Bro. Jamie Ashcroft, did an outstanding job guiding the candidate through the ceremony.

After the meeting, we enjoyed a lively festive board filled with great conversation, laughter, and, of course, a well-earned glass of wine (or two!).

Freemasonry is built on friendship, self-improvement, and helping others. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s all about or are interested in joining, just ask!

A Night to Remember at Rochford Hundred Lodge

This evening, we installed Bro. Eddie Cope-Prior as our Worshipful Master, marking a proud milestone—every office in our lodge is now held by a Light Blue, an achievement nearly 10 years in the making!

We also welcomed our first Master who wasn’t born before the lodge was consecrated—a true sign of progress. The night ended with a festive board full of Christmas cheer, turkey, carols, and the traditional 12 Days of Christmas.

If you’ve ever thought about joining Freemasonry and want to know more about what we do, we’d love to hear from you!

Last nights meeting at Rochford Hundred Lodge 8922 was truly a testament to the unity and dedication that defines our lodge, As we gathered to witness Bro. Jamie Ashcroft's raising to becoming a Master Mason, the evening unfolded as a remarkable display of camaraderie and support.

In a delightful twist, our meeting turned into a showcase of teamwork as several brothers stepped up to fill important roles. From Bro. Khan admirably taking on the duties of our Senior Deacon to W.Bro. Ferrant confidently assuming the responsibilities of our JW, and W.Bro. Renshaw embodying the role of our Chaplain, each brother who stood in demonstrated not only their commitment to our lodge but also their willingness to support and uplift one another.

Under the steady guidance of WM John Porter, the rituals flowed seamlessly, reaffirming our dedication to the principles of Freemasonry. Additionally, W.Bro Gary Andrews lent his expertise, with the ceremony, further enhancing the experience for all.

Another highlight of the night was undoubtedly welcoming new members into Rochford Hundred Lodge. Colin Clarke & Joshua Clarke, a father and son duo, brought with them a fresh enthusiasm and energy, further enriching the fabric of our lodge.

Members of Rochford Hundred Lodge 8922 recently had the pleasure of attending the annual dinner of the Essex Cornerstone Club aboard the historic HMS Belfast.

Despite a bit of British weather, the evening kicked off with a warm gathering at the Horniman at Hays pub, setting the perfect tone for the adventure ahead.

Joined by esteemed guests including Club Chairman W.Bro. Bernie Smith and the Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro. Paul Tarrant, attendees braved the rain to board the Belfast for welcome drinks and exploration.

The ship’s museum and gangways offered a fascinating glimpse into maritime history before the highlight of the evening – dinner in one of the mess halls. The feast was truly delightful, with an array of culinary delights to savour.

Amidst the clinking of glasses and heartfelt toasts, speeches from notable figures added to the sense of occasion. It was a night filled with laughter, camaraderie, and cherished memories.
