On Saturday, a member of Rochford Hundred Lodge 8922 had the pleasure of visiting the Pitsea St Michael’s Scout Group to present a £200 donation from the Lodge, marking and supporting the group’s impressive 100-year anniversary.
The donation will help contribute towards events lined up to celebrate their centenary, including a group camp and a trip to Colchester Zoo. It’s all part of making the year one to remember for the young people involved.
The member who attended has a long personal history with the group, having been a Beaver, Cub, Scout, and Venture Scout there between 1987 and 2002. Returning to see the group still thriving was a special moment, complete with a bit of nostalgia as he even dug out and wore his old Scout scarf! It was great to see familiar faces and meet the new generation of Scouts continuing the legacy.
Supporting local youth groups like this is just one way Freemasons get involved in their communities, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping them continue to flourish.
