My name is Peggy Lim and I'm running to be your next International Students' Officer. I'm an international student from Malaysia and I’m currently a third year law student. The reason why I'm running for the International Students' Officer position is because I believe I can make a difference to the international community in Sheffield with the experience I have gained throughout my three years in
Sheffield. I have changed a lot, from a student who can barely speak in a full sentence in English to now where I can communicate with others without any problems. If elected, I would assure you there will always be:
(1) No LIMit to campaigning for international students’ rights
- I would like to be the voice of the international community, actively campaign for the welfare and rights of the international students
(2) No LIMit to participation & employability
- I would like to organise monthly mini activities fair to encourage the participation of international students, so that it would never be too late for students such as postgraduates and Erasmus students to get involved
- I would like to work closely with the University Career Service, helping international students with their job applications
(3) No LIMit to languages & cultures
- I would like to promote the Tandem Language Learning Scheme, allowing student to meet new friends, meanwhile learning languages and cultures of one another
- I would like our Union to celebrate festivals of different countries to make international students feel like home when they are in UK
