勞工研究網絡 Labour Studies Network Labour studies Network (LSN) is established to promote scholarship on labour studies, sociology of work, social welfare and social protection.

城市大學勞工研究網絡（LSN）的建立是為了促進勞工和社會問題的學術研究，增進學者和從業者之間的交流，並推動勞動研究和勞工運動領域的社區參與和知識轉移。

我們在2017/18年度舉辦《勞工與社會發展系列》講座，邀請前沿的研究者和實踐者，分析香港、中國及更廣泛地區的政治、經濟和社會狀況，扣連公民社會，回應當前社會所面臨的挑戰。

Labour studies Network (LSN) is established to promote scholarship on labour studies, sociology of work, social welfare and social protection, facilitate exchange among academics and practitioners, as well as encourage community enga

gement and knowledge transfer in the field of labour studies and labour movement. With a specific focus on Hong Kong and the mainland China, we collaborate with global universities and institutions. LSN's activities include conferences and workshops on labour, globalization, inequality, social welfare and social movement. It also circulates news and articles on these topics among its members and supporters. In cooperation with Palgrave macmillan (New York), it has recently launched a book series on Asian Labour and Welfare policies.

2008年金融危機後，民粹主義於全球各國急速冒起。於此背景下，香港城市大學應用社會科學系、職工盟和國際社會學協會（International Sociological Association）社會階級與社會運動研究委員會（簡稱RC47）於2018年6月底一連兩日舉行「全球民粹主義下的工人與社會運動研討會」。各地的與會學者介紹了不同地方的民粹主義和社會運動近况。左翼平台「夜貓」編輯李峻嶸博士與促成會議的陳敬慈副教授去年底就着會議的內容和背景進行一場對談，再於近日修訂成下文，以左翼視覺深探民粹主義，思索策略。

【美國三地全州教師罷工：香港可能嗎？】

編按：香港剛有兩間大學傳出教員被終止聘約的消息。但就算有教員飯碗不保，暫時也未見大專教育界有大型鬥爭出現的可能。遠在美國，同樣是教育界，形勢卻截然不同。

自本年初開始，美國的公共教育界正有一股大型罷工潮。帶起的是二月時西維珍尼亞州份的公立教師，總共34000人罷工，全州學校停運。政府被迫答應全部五項要求。西維珍尼亞的成功，激起很多人的希望。其實美國的公立教育一直問題多多，教育工作者待遇極差，但因組織力疲弱大多教師只能啞忍。西維珍尼亞就像是一點火星。首先引發的是奧克拉荷馬，現在則是亞里桑那；肯塔基、科羅拉多與北卡羅來納也開始湧現有組織的抗議。燎原之勢，莫過於此。這在美國近數十年間極其罕見。

有見給此，夜貓便選譯了三篇文章，內容涵蓋這三場罷工。其中的組織、策略，已及面對的阻力均相當值得香港的教育工作者以至是工運人士參考。要知道美國勞工與工會在意識形態上以及法律上均要面對極大阻力，這點與香港不謂不似，但他們卻也成功組織起大型的罷工潮。正值五一勞動節時分，就以這些故事共勉之。
