GE1307 - Appreciation of Built Heritage - 文物遺產建築 – 分析

This course aims to enhance student knowledge about appraising the adaptive reuse of built heritage in Hong Kong from the design, technical, legal, financial, social, and cultural perspectives, and understanding of the conservation practice of Hong Kong’s built heritage. Various teaching and learning activities will be introduced to arouse student learning, including::

(i) Interactive lectures

on basic principles of revitalization of built heritage;

(ii) Discussion with industrial practitioners in pre-arranged Guest lecture(s);

(iii) Workshops to enable students to actively participate in discussion and presentation of proposals on problem-solving under the supervision of a studio tutor;

(iv) Tour(s) guided by concerned project practitioner(s) to visit adaptive reuse project(s) of built heritage; and

(v) Conducting role plays as Cultural Tourism Guides to prepare a heritage study trip proposal within preset parameters.
