This course enables students to analyse career issues through contextual, organisational and individual perspectives. It covers the theory and practice of successful career management in the 21st Century, thereby enhancing students’ psychological understanding (e.g., of their own personality and vocational interests) and awareness of related macro trends (e.g., globalisation, technology and the kn
owledge gap). A variety of activities, including lectures, career assessments, alumni talks, professional seminars, career development workshops and SWOT analysis, are employed to facilitate effective learning. Students analyse the opportunities for and barriers to career development within the society and consider such issues as job search efficacy and life-long employability. They also consolidate their learning by giving a presentation on a particular career area and formulating a career strategy.
