The Culture Promotion Committee of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, set up in 1999, has presented a great number and variety of arts and cultural programmes every year since then with the aim of broadening both students’ and staff members’ artistic and cultural horizons. This enrichment of campus life and enc

ouragement of cultural awareness allows us to achieve a further aim: that of contributing to the overall well-being and all-round development of PolyU students. Since the establishment of the Culture Promotion Committee, over a hundred programmes have been held on campus each year. These have encompassed music, dance, theatre, visual arts, films and video, literary arts, talk series, carnivals, exhibitions, artist-in-residence programmes, PolyU Arts Festivals and many others.

成立於一九九九年的香港理工大學文化推廣委員會，一向以擴闊學生及員工的文化視野為目標。藉著每年舉辦百多項不同類型的文化藝術交流活動，理大學生的人文素養得以提升，而發展更趨多元化。

自文化推廣委員會成立以來，每年在校園舉行的文化活動達百餘項，如：音樂、舞蹈、戲劇、視覺藝術、電影、文學、講座系列、嘉年華會、展覽、駐校藝術家計劃、理大藝術節等，種類繁多。

內容簡介 Introduction:
由北京中演環球藝術製作有限責任公司主辦、香港理工大學（理大）合辦的「國風國韻飄香江之舞劇《騎兵》校園行」，將於2026年7月4日在香港理工大學蔣震劇院舉行。本次校園行活動邀請到來自內蒙古藝術劇院, 「國風國韻飄香江之舞劇《騎兵》」的演員進行主講與現場示範，旨在引領參加者深入理解中國傳統舞蹈，加深對中國文化與美學的理解與欣賞。
舞劇《騎兵》是中國舞台藝術史上首部以騎兵為題材的大型原創舞劇，舞者以剛勁舞蹈闡述家國情懷，向歷史中不屈不撓的馬背英烈致敬。現有少量《騎兵》舞劇公演門票供理大學生、職員及校友登記申請，門票數量有限。

The “Chinese Performing Arts Hong Kong Seasons - Dance Drama "Cavalry" Campus Tour,” organised by CPAA Production Limited and co-organised by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) to be held at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre on 4 July 2026. Featuring a talk and demonstration by leading artists from the Inner Mongolia Art Theatre, as well as the performers of the Dance Drama “Cavalry,” this campus tour connects audiences directly with the art form to deepen their understanding of traditional dance and foster a profound appreciation for Chinese culture and aesthetics.

Dance Drama “Cavalry" is the first large-scale original dance drama in Chinese stage art history to focus on the cavalry. Using masculine and vigorous dance to express patriotic feelings, it pays tribute to the indomitable cavalrymen in history. A very limited number of complimentary tickets are now available for PolyU students, staff, and alumni.

【French May Arts Festival 2026｜”Scènes de la vie de Bohème”】

Presented by the French May Arts Festival, the Minor in European Studies of the Department of English and Communication at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Culture Promotion Committee of PolyU and Opera Hong Kong, “Scènes de la vie de Bohème” was successfully held on 30 May 2026 at the Jockey Club Auditorium of PolyU. This story of a group of young artists searching for themselves amid love and loss, ideals and reality, offered the audience an intimate and heartfelt operatic experience. Through this programme, PolyU students, staff, alumni and all attendees were able to experience the charm of a world-class opera on campus at close quarters and broaden their horizons through diverse cultural and artistic perspectives.

We were honored to have Ms Johanna Bouyé, Consul for Culture, Education and Science of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau; Professor Eric Friginal, Head of the Department of English and Communication at PolyU; and Music Director Mr Marco Iannelli deliver opening remarks to help launch the evening.

由法國五月藝術節、香港理工大學英文及傳意學系歐洲研究副修、理大文化推廣委員會及香港歌劇院聯合呈獻的《波西米亞生活場景》，已於 2026 年 5 月 30 日假香港理工大學賽馬會綜藝館圓滿舉行。這個關於一群年輕藝術家在愛與失落、理想與現實之間尋找自我的故事，為觀眾帶來細膩、親密而真摯的歌劇體驗。透過是次節目，理大師生、校友及在場人士得以在校園中近距離感受世界經典歌劇的魅力，從多元文化與藝術觀點中拓闊視野；並非常榮幸邀請到法國駐港澳總領事館領事(文化、教育及科學)Johanna Bouyé女士、香港理工大學英文及傳意學系系主任Eric Friginal教授，以及本劇音樂總監 Marco Iannelli 先生致開幕辭，為節目揭開序幕。

Pelé. A name known around the world, a sports legend who changed soccer forever, and a national hero who carried the hopes and dreams of a country on his back. But before he was an icon, he was a kid from the slums of São Paulo, Brazil, so poor that he couldn't afford a real soccer ball. Charting his meteoric rise-from scrubbing floors to support his family to honing his electrifying playing style on the streets to leading Brazil's national team to its first World Cup victory at the age of 17 - Pelé vividly brings to life the greatest sports story of the 20th century.

[2025-26名家講座系列: 丁新豹教授《孫中山與辛亥革命》]
由國史教育中心（香港）主辦，香港理工大學合辦的2025-26名家講座系列: 丁新豹教授《孫中山與辛亥革命》，於2026年4月25日在香港理工大學蔣震劇院圓滿舉行！今年適值辛亥革命爆發115年，也是孫中山先生誕生160年。丁新豹教授藉此機會回顧孫中山的革命事跡，從多角度探討他對辛亥革命的貢獻及探究他的不同身份是怎樣形成。講座主要分為三個部份：武昌起義與清室覆亡，孫中山對辛亥革命的貢獻及其不同形象的型塑。透過丁新豹教授精彩的分享, 加深了理大師生、校友及在場人士對孫中山的多重身份的了解，了解清室覆亡的背景及原因，提升大眾對國家歷史的認識。

The talk organised by The Centre of National History Education (Hong Kong), co-organised by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was successfully held on 25 April 2026 at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre. This year marks the 115th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution and the 160th anniversary of Dr Sun Yat-sen’s birth. Taking this opportunity, Prof. Ting reviewed Dr Sun’s revolutionary deeds, explored his contributions to the Xinhai Revolution from multiple perspectives, and examined how his various identities were formed. The talk focused on three main parts: the Wuchang Uprising and the collapse of the Qing Dynasty, Dr Sun Yat-sen’s contributions to the Xinhai Revolution, and the shaping of his multifaceted image. Through Prof. Ting’s insightful sharing, PolyU students, staff and alumni and the audience gained a deeper understanding of Dr Sun Yat-sen’s dual roles. The session also provided a deeper understanding of the background and causes behind the fall of the Qing Dynasty, thereby enhancing public awareness and appreciation of the nation’s history.

[《林則徐：虎門銷煙以外》電影欣賞及分享會]
由香港電台及國史教育中心（香港）主辦，香港理工大學合辦的《林則徐：虎門銷煙以外》電影欣賞及分享會，於2026年4月18日在香港理工大學蔣震劇院圓滿舉行！是次活動反應熱烈，吸引約200名觀眾到場參與。節目以細膩的鏡頭語言和情感敘述，串聯歷史與當下，展現林則徐精神的當代意義，引導觀眾認識鴉片戰爭前後的歷史脈絡，理解林則徐在禁煙、外交與民生改革等方面的遠見與堅持，從而反思歷史人物在國家危難時的選擇與擔當，並啟發觀眾培養對國家的歸屬感。

是次放映亦邀得丁新豹教授（理大大學院士及理大藝術家聯盟成員）及林則徐第六代後人程平山擔任映後分享嘉賓，與現場觀眾交流，深化對林則徐精神及其家國情懷的認識，鼓勵新一代學習林則徐堅韌不拔的精神，承傳他的高尚情操和民族精神。。

The documentary screening and sharing session organised by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) and The Centre of National History Education (Hong Kong), co-organised by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was successfully held on 18 April 2026 at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre. The event received an enthusiastic response and attracted approximately 200 audience members. Through delicate cinematography and emotional storytelling, the programme connected historical events with the present day, highlighting the contemporary significance of Lin Zexu’s spirit. It guided the audience to understand the historical context of the O***m War era, to appreciate Lin Zexu’s foresight and perseverance in o***m prohibition, diplomacy, and social reform initiatives, and to reflect on the choices and responsibilities of historical figures in times of national crisis, thereby inspiring the audience to strengthen their sense of belonging to the nation.

It is also honored to have Prof. Joseph Ting Sun-pao (PolyU University Fellow and member of PolyU Artists' Alliance) and the sixth-generation descendant of Lin Zexu as the post-screening guest speakers, who engaged with the audience to deepen their understanding of Lin Zexu’s ideals and patriotic spirit, and to encourage the new generation to learn from Lin Zexu’s unwavering spirit, carrying forward his noble character and national spirit.

Organised by the Culture Promotion Committee of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), this concert celebrates music's role in developing the next generation under the theme "Symphonic Pathways: Nurturing Future Talents". 13 ensembles featuring 50 members of the PolyU Orchestra will perform a diverse programme of classical and contemporary works. From strings and piano to woodwind, brass and percussion, the concert showcases the dedication and talent of our orchestra members.

Presented by the French May Arts Festival, the Department of English and Communication, the Minor in European Studies, the Culture Promotion Committee of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Opera Hong Kong, this programme invites you to celebrate the timeless allure of the bohemian soul.

This story of impoverished artists, tells a completely recognisable and relatable tale of a group of young people in the period of self-discovery. Echoing the classic French novel by Henri Murger, based on the iconic opera by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini and sung in French, “Scènes de la vie de Bohème” is an intimate dramatic adaptation of Giacomo Puccini’s classic opera. This is a new version of story of love, loss, art, poverty and the richness of life.

The programme will be around 90 minutes in duration without an intermission. Sung in French with English surtitles.

Synopsis 故事大綱

In late 19th century Paris, Marie met fellow scientist Pierre Curie (Sam Riley). The pair went on to marry, raised two daughters and changed the face of science forever by their discovery of radioactivity. In 1903, the pair jointly won the Nobel Prize in physics for their discovery, making Marie the first woman to win the esteemed prize.

After the death of her beloved Pierre, Marie’s commitment to science remained unwavering and her work went on to win her a second Nobel Prize, taking with it the responsibility for discoveries which changed the world. This is a bold, visionary depiction of a legacy of an extraordinary life, the transformative effects and ensuing fallout of the Curie’s work and an exploration of how this impacted the defining moments of the 20th Century.

在19世紀末的巴黎，瑪麗(露莎蒙碧姬飾)與同為科學家的皮耶居禮(森萊利飾)邂逅，兩人對科學的共同興趣與激情，使他們越走越近，不久更結為夫婦。他們的感情以及對科學的熱情都與日俱增，成為了彼此在愛情上的伴侶及在科學上的最佳拍檔，更一起發現了兩種新元素「釙」及「鐳」，開創了放射性理論，並創造出「放射性」(radioactivity)這個科學名詞。他們憑著破天荒的研究，雙雙獲得諾貝爾獎，而瑪麗更是史上首位獲得此殊榮的女性。可惜皮耶不幸意外逝世，傷心欲絕的瑪麗仍然堅持繼續獻身科學研究，並再度獲得諾貝爾獎。居禮夫婦的浪漫與熱情，以及大膽探究的精神，成就了造福和改變後世的科學基業。
