GE1327 - Navigating Risk - 瀏覽風險

The recent Asian and global financial crises had brought to this modern information age a new definition on investment, which brings the importance of the risk factors that are potentially existing among the various professional sectors. Other than the traditional golden rules in earning money, the realization and prevention of risk from various investment tools, the impacts of man-made and natura

l disasters to the society, and other apparently unpredictable happenings requires some basic mathematical and computing methods for risk and trend analysis. Starting from an introduction of basic income growth models that have relevance to Hong Kong, students will be guided to topics on estimating financial market price behaviour and market growth; as well as predicting trends of city growth. Studies on the above topics will be supplemented by applying conventional simulation tools to visualize and understand the evolution of the processes. Through the real-time simulation experiments, students will be able to understand the risk in various sectors of the society.
