Congratulations to our HKU students on completing the EOC’s Equal Opportunity Youth Ambassador Scheme 2025/26! The Scheme provided students with valuable opportunities to explore issues relating to diversity, equality and inclusion through experiential learning, anti-sexual harassment training and promotional projects. By turning learning into action, we are proud of their commitment to promoting a respectful and inclusive community.🙌💕

Today is 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 . This year is the 15th Global Accessibility Awareness Day, and we are reminded that accessibility is essential to ensuring equal access in our increasingly digital world. 🌍

We should keep working on building inclusive digital experiences by continuing to remove barriers, listening to the needs of people with disabilities, and improving the way our content and services are designed. GAAD is a call to action for all of us to learn more about digital accessibility. 🌐🤝

As 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 begins, it invites us to pause and pay attention to our own mental wellbeing and that of those around us. Everyday pressures, responsibilities, and worries can build up, often without us realising.

This week is also a chance to turn awareness into meaningful change.🫶 That might mean checking in with how you are feeling, pausing to take a break, or offering a listening ear to someone who’s struggling. By supporting each other, we can help build more mentally healthy communities.💕🤗

This week, we’re celebrating 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗳 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝟰–𝟭𝟬 𝗠𝗮𝘆)!

It is an opportunity to build greater understanding, respect, and inclusion by recognising Deaf culture and respecting the communication choices of Deaf people and those with hearing loss. 💞Let’s also take a moment to reflect on how accessible our content, events, and services really are, challenge stereotypes about hearing loss, and commit to making workplaces, schools, and services accessible. Together, we can move from awareness to action and help ensure no one is excluded from the conversation. 💬🤟

Today, let’s celebrate 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆. Established by the United Nations, this global observance encourages us to recognise the strengths of autistic individuals and work together to break down barriers caused by stigma and misconceptions.🧩

On this day, we are called to celebrate neurodiversity, challenge stereotypes, and help build a world where everyone is embraced for who they are. Inclusion begins with each of us!💕

No more silence. No more violence.

Based on recent studies, the prevalence of sexual violence in Hong Kong reveals significant concerns.

A 2022 survey found that approximately 37% of women (aged 15–64) reported experiencing some form of sexual violence in their lifetime, including unwanted physical contact, leering, and verbal or electronic harassment. Despite these high rates, a troubling 60.6% of women did not report the harassment, often due to fears of retaliation, disbelief, or job loss. Comprehensive percentage data regarding male Hong Kong citizens’ experiences was not available in the sources, though some reports suggest underreporting may also be significant among male victims.

This April, we wear teal for 𝗦𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵. It‘s on all of us to create cultures of respect and consent.

This means:

✅Intervening as a bystander
✅Believing survivors
✅Challenging harmful attitudes

On March 21, let’s observe the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗗).🌍👐 Established by the United Nations in 1979, this day calls on us to acknowledge and actively work against racial discrimination, an issue that still impacts individuals and communities globally. Racism causes unfairness and creates divisions within society. Let’s challenge our own biases and existing stereotypes, and foster mutual understanding, as everyone should be treated with equal respect, regardless of their background.💪

Today marks the start of 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝟭𝟲-𝟮𝟬 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵)!🧠🌈

This annual celebration is a global initiative dedicated to challenging misconceptions, celebrating the strengths and talents of neurodivergent individuals, and transforming how we perceive neurodiversity. Neurodiversity celebrates the natural variations in human brains, including conditions like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and many others. It reminds us that different ways of thinking, learning, and perceiving the world are great strengths, bringing unique perspectives and innovations. 💖

To celebrate the week, don’t miss our student ambassador-initiated event: “𝗔 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗗𝗛𝗗” 🍕 Join us this Thursday, 19 March, for a discussion on neurodiversity, and enjoy some chat and pizza. Check out .eosa for more details.🙌
