Founded in 2005, our missions are to promote the study of ecology and biodiversity and to raise students' concern on ecological and environmental issues.

Ecology & Biodiversity Society, SS, HKU (formerly known as Environmental Life Science Society, SS, HKUSU) was founded in 2005. It is an academic society serving students studying Ecology & Biodiversity in the University of Hong Kong. Our aims are to promote the study of ecology and biodiversity within HKU and to raise students’ concern with social issues in this area. We also focus a lot on promot

ing environmental conservation as well as the high biodiversity of Hong Kong to the general public. The Society is the member of the Save Lung Mei Alliance and the Save Our Country Parks Alliance. This page is created in 2012 by Enreacher Session 2011-2012. The name of the society changed from Environmental Life Science Society, SS, HKUSU to Ecology & Biodiversity Society, SS, HKUSU in November 2017. 我哋相信每一隻動物，每一棵植物喺大自然入面都唔只係「一張相」🖼️，而係一段值得被看見嘅故事📖。我哋希望透過呢個比賽，鼓勵大家重新觀察身邊嘅大自然，用影像記錄生態，同時寫低你嘅觀察、感受，甚至反思人同自然之間嘅關係🌿。

無論係常見嘅雀鳥🐦、昆蟲🐞，定係偶然遇見嘅野生動物🦎🐸，每一個畫面都可以成為一個值得被分享嘅故事💭

今次比賽不限年齡，任何人都歡迎參加！我哋仲設有手機組📱、同相機組📷，所以無論你係攝影新手、學生、自然愛好者，定係有經驗嘅拍攝者，都可以用自己嘅方式參與，一齊用影像紀錄大自然同生態嘅美☘️。

今次同中學生一齊升級再造海玻璃，真係有好玩又有意思🌊✨。

平時被忽略嘅海玻璃，其實係時間同海浪共同雕琢嘅痕跡⏳。我哋一齊探索佢哋嘅來源🌍，了解海洋污染背後嘅現實，同時透過雙手，將每一塊玻璃轉化成獨特嘅小作品🎨。

呢個過程唔單止係手作體驗，更係一次重新認識環境嘅機會🌿。當「廢棄物」有機會被重新定義，亦提醒我哋，其實改變可以由好細微嘅行動開始🌱，慢慢咁去保護我哋嘅大自然。

期待大家將呢份觀察同創意帶返日常生活，繼續用自己嘅方式，為大自然行多一步💙。

Upcycling sea glass with secondary students was really fun and meaningful🌊✨.

Sea glass may look ordinary, but it is shaped by time and waves⏳. We learned where it comes from and talked about marine pollution 🌍, while turning each piece into our own handmade creations🎨.

This was not just a craft activity, but also a chance to learn more about our environment🌿. It reminds us that even small actions can make a difference and help protect nature🌱.

We hope everyone can bring this creativity and awareness into daily life, and keep doing their part for the planet💙.

好開心可以喺 Superpass 當日見到咁多位參加者。希望大家都傾得開心，玩得投入啦😆！

今次Superpass我哋一如既往咁同大家切素乳豬🐷、切蜜瓜🍈，希望大家可以都可以拎個好意頭。同時，我哋都邀請咗幾位教授同埋同學拍片為大家加油打氣⛽！各位會員仲喺揮春上寫低咗唔同嘅祝福同寄望，互相加油鼓勵💪。相信大家嘅願望都一定可以成真😎！

同埋亦都恭喜各位喺抽獎環節中獎嘅參加者🎁！希望喺嚟緊準備final期間或者未來出field時，呢幾個獎品都可以派上用場👏。抽唔中獎都唔緊要，我哋仲有勁過利是🧧，有佢加持，過三爆四都唔係夢🔥。

最後，希望各位 final-year 嘅會員可以順利完成FYP，未來前程似錦✨！而其他會員都可以輕鬆應對嚟緊嘅考試✍️！

We are glad to see so many of you at Superpass! Hope everyone had a great time chatting and really enjoyed themselves😆!

As always, we kept up the tradition of chopping the vegan roast suckling pig🐷 and cutting melons🍈, wishing everyone good luck in their academic. We also invited a few professors and fellow students to record videos to wish everyone the best of luck⛽! Many of our members wrote their wishes and aspirations on fai chun, sharing encouragement and support with one another💪. We truly believe all your wishes will come true😎!

Also, congratulations to all our lucky winners in the lucky draw🎁! Hopefully these prizes will come in handy during your final exam preparations or head out to field soon👏. For those who didn’t win, don’t worry, we’ve got the superpass red packet🧧With its blessings, scoring top GPA is definitely within reach🔥!

好開心可以同一班中學生喺 Shoreline Guardians 一齊為海岸環境出一分力💪🏻！大家都非常投入，細心清理海灘上的垃圾🗑，展現出對大自然嘅關心同責任感💙。

活動期間，我哋執到大量細小發泡膠碎粒，以及纏繞喺岸邊石頭同植物上的繩索、魚網等廢棄物。呢啲垃圾雖然細小，但係就對海洋生態造成嚴重嘅影響⚠️。發泡膠容易碎裂成微塑膠，被海洋生物誤食🐟；而廢棄繩網則可能纏住魚類、雀鳥或其他生物 🐦🦀，令佢哋受傷甚至失去生命。

透過今次親身體驗，希望同學們更加明白保護海洋環境嘅重要性🌍，並將環保意識帶返校園同日常生活🏫，感染身邊嘅朋友同家人一齊守護香港珍貴嘅自然生態💚。

多謝每一位同學嘅努力同支持🙌！你哋嘅每一分付出，都令海岸變得更加乾淨同美麗✨🏝️！大家記得留意我哋即將舉行嘅海玻璃工作坊，一齊轉廢為寶♻️，製作獨一無二嘅海玻璃飾品💎！

We’re delighted to have a group of secondary school students join our Shoreline Guardians event and contribute to protecting the coastal environment💪🏻. Everyone showed great enthusiasm and dedication while carefully cleaning up litter along the beach🗑, demonstrating care for nature and a strong sense of responsibility💙.

During the activity, we collected large amounts of small foam fragments, as well as discarded ropes, tangled strings, and abandoned fishing nets caught among rocks and coastal plants. Although these items may seem small, they can cause serious harm to marine ecosystems⚠️. Foam can easily break down into microplastics that may be mistaken for food by marine animals🐟, while ropes and nets can trap fish, birds, and other wildlife 🐦🦀, causing injury or even death.

Through this hands-on experience, we hope students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting the marine environment🌍 and will bring this awareness back to their schools and daily lives🏫, inspiring others to help safeguard Hong Kong’s precious natural ecosystems💚.

A huge thank-you to every student for your hard work and support🙌. Every effort has helped make our shoreline cleaner and more beautiful✨🏝️. Stay tuned for our upcoming workshop, where you can turn waste into treasure♻️ by creating one-of-a-kind sea glass accessories💎!
