🗣️What kind of place is CUHK Music to you?
CUHK Music is a vibrant and welcoming community that encourages creativity, collaboration, and personal growth. Students are given various opportunities to explore their musical identity, refine their skills, and discover who they want to become, both as musicians and as individuals. It’s an encouraging environment that values creativity, growth, and self-discovery, allowing everyone to learn and express themselves freely.
🗣️What is your most unforgettable memory during your time at CUHK Music?
My Graduation Concert, where I programmed and performed one half of percussion music and conducted the other half with wind ensemble music, gathering a group of talented and passionate musicians whom I’m proud to call friends to this day. It was an incredibly fulfilling experience to watch everything come together. The concert was a celebration of my musical journey thus far at CUHK, combining my love for percussion and conducting into a programme that expressed who I am as a musician.
🗣️What are some of your proudest works since graduation?
I’m extremely fortunate to be part of the third cohort of the Orchestre Métropolitain’s Orchestral Conducting Academy, where I receive regular mentorship from the incredible Yannick Nézet-Séguin and work with an orchestra that is both exceptionally high-level and remarkably warm and supportive, truly reflecting who Yannick is and who I aspire to be as a conductor and leader. I’m also very proud of my work as Director of the UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble, where we recently gave our first concert together in October 2025. It was inspiring to see the students’ dedication and musicality come to life, and I’m excited to continue building on this momentum in the years ahead.
